    Nitro version?

I have a slash 4x4 but I'm wanting to buy one of these. Is traxxas going to make a nitro version?

I bet they do. It seems like it would be easy enough... I might have to pick up another one and see what I can see. Hmmmmm.

I don't follow Traxxas super close, but... have they released any new nitro products in the last few years?

    Nitro Slash.

The X-Maxx may be a foot-in-the-door as far as size. But a plastic chassis will not hold up to the heat of a nitro engine so they may have the same bulkheads but different chassis. You'd need a pretty big nitro engine for it too. And who knows (other than the guys deep within Traxxas), they may be working on a gas engine. IF they are, I hope they took many notes of the flops from HPI and Losi that could have revolutionized the industry.

    When did it die?

Nitro is as popular as electric, but I wouldn't call it dead. I for one love nitro, and would love to own a nitro version of the X-Maxx. I can just imagine such a behemoth rolling a dirt path with the mixture of blue smoke, and dust in the air.

I will keep my fingers crossed for such a release...

I would think if you had the right plate cut to sit in the chassis you could do just about any (big block obviously) nitro motor to sit in there and you would have room for a transmission as well.

Not me. Nothing like a worthless pile! I had a T-maxx and now an E-maxx. Way better!

it would have to have a pretty big nitro engine, plus if the stock brushless system is overheating that thing would really would be getting hott.

Why would you want nitro?? Electric is far more efficient and less messy. Plus nitro is not good for our environment sir. Let's go green
