Broke my first part today and showed that my attempt at doing the straps for the batteries was a failure lol .... Xmaxx nose dived off a hill of a drainage area by my work and batteries went flying when it hit and rolled and noticed later that the front bumper top bracket broke on the one side and messed up the back of the body a little bit nothing too bad .... I've been mostly playing with 6s but decided to use 8s today to see how the batteries held with the straps and it was more of a beast then I was expecting hahaha , wasn't quite use to the extra power coming off the hill. Nothing major but figured I'd share![]()
I'm trying to get my gear mesh to be perfect apparently cause it's either too tight or too loose and it still sounds like a weed eater with the new steel spur I installed. It sucks because i have to take out and put back like 6 or 8 screws to see if I did anything lol. Very time consuming.

Today, while out with the V1 on 8s the slipper got to slippin' > adjustment nut failed,w/tra5180A bearing going bad in clutch housing
causing heat that melted the spur - so installed the 18/50 gears with new bearings in clutch -
Ran for another half a pack
Ready for some Track action in the morning

Put a freshly-painted body on, & took the X-maxx out for a speed run today. 6s tires are just too balloony (is that a real word?) above 40mph for me. Only got up to 46mph max.

The ballooning makes it faster.![]()
A lot of folk use fishing line to stop the ballooning.

Looks very good![]()
I hated how high the front wheels come off the ground, & can't control it. I fabricated my own wheelie bar, to keep the front wheels down.
Then after a couple of crazy runs, one of my v1 tires gives out...
So now I have to think about what new ones to buy.
Custom wheelie bar worked great at keeping the front wheels almost on the pavement, though...

Youre both right. Theoretically ballooned tires will be faster because they get taller. In the real world, tho, with a stock xmaxx its uncontrollable at that speed. To much slop in the steering, a arms and hubs. And the tires. Its mostly the slop though.

Got my new Pro-line rings dyed red & installed. Gonna hopefully test them out tomorrow!
All ready for the dye...
Now to wait 30 minutes...
Looking pretty
Red didn't seem quite as color fast as the black. Hopefully it doesn't fade over time.
All 160 screws installed
And on the truck.
Now for some fun!

Stripped my wheel bearings out and gave them a clean and an oil after its first run on 8S yesterday. With the optional 46T spur gear I reckon its near perfect.
Ordered some T-Bone Racing parts ( Front and rear arm skid plates and centre skid plate ), a body mesh net as it should help cut down cleaning time ( I'm fastidious and clean mine right down after every drive ), a set of Traxxas Paddles for when I had back home to the Big Dunes and another body to start doing up. I'm about to try find a Traxxas Slash Receiver and Transmitter so as to be able to hook up the Slash OBA, I've already modded the speakers and mounted them into the X-Maxx shell and they work perfectly but am having glitching issue's with the X-Maxx servo's and ESC, so upon suggestion will swap the receiver and transmitter for a slash one to hopefully fix the problem.
After having cheap HSP Nitro buggies before hand I am utterly impressed with how well thought out the X-Maxx is to not only work on, but as well as the small amount of tools required and supplied. Everything is easily accessible, comes apart as it should and puts up with a load of punishment for an approximate 10Kg beast..
The pins for setting the gear mesh is a simply brilliant set-up with no faffing about required, just set and forget. The X-Maxx has to be the best RC I've ever owned..

Installed the Traxxas aluminum differential housing on the front and rear!
Used part numbers:
7781X - Carrier, Differential (Aluminum) (Requires #7783X Spider Gear Shaft)
7783X - Spider Gear Shaft (2)/ Spacers (4)/16x23.5x.5 Stainless Washer (2) (For #7781X Aluminum Differential Carrier)
Build quality looks good, went together without any issues!
