    XL2 2028 build

I received my X-Maxx last week and I am pretty pleased with it so far. I really like how large and well built it is. I immediately went to modifying it and ordering parts. This is what I have so far:

    Castle XL2
    Castle 2028 800 Kv motor
    Castle 2028 cooling fans
SMC 11.1V 9000mAh 60C batteries (in the mail now)
DHawk aluminum top and bottom shock caps
Vanquish 3" Rigid led light bar
Kershaw motor and esc mount (pre-ordered)

I wont be running the 1/5 scale stuff until the Kershaw conversion is installed and will be running the stock setup until then. I really don't have any goals with running the castle setup, just trying to avoid worrying about high temps and doing it just because. This truck really needs some type of wheelie bar system for running 8s power through it.

I did have some trouble with the electronics but thanks to tire slinger i realized that my motor temp sensor was plugged in wrong. Next thing i will do is put a spektrum rx in so I can use my DX4s

Next to one of my SuperMaxx trucks:

Rigid 3" light bar installed. I will be wiring it up this weekend:

    Aluminum shock caps intalled:

And the castle 2028 fan installed.

That's it for now. I know of someone that is going to be making a servo mount and I definitely will be getting that. Come join the Facebook group!

Kershaw has the prototype motor mount picture up on his website if you haven't seen it. Where did you see an ESC mount on his website?

You guys are going to love it!!! The setup is so much power and fun!!!

Even on 6S, the truck still reponses better and everything stays very cool... no fires

With the motor mount. It says "Includes ESC mount for Castle XL-E ESC or Leopard BL5."

Where did you find that light bar and what was the price? I've seen another from another user that was 50 bones. Looking for something a little cheaper...

There is a link in the first post to the light bar. It was $50. I'm sure you can find something cheaper.

I got the 2028 in today and wow is it big! Here it is next to the 1800kv, 2200kv, 2650kv and 2400kv castle motors.

I also placed an order for the XLX. it was only $20 more.

I may do that. It seems like every time i take this truck out to drive the slipper nut backs out. I may put some thead lock on it to stop it.

Well, I don't think you'll need that motor fan. I haven't even seen motor temps even hit 100F yet.

Sweet I definitely will be ordering that!

Well, I broke a shock shaft and upper arm while flipping off trees this past weekend. I made a trip to Louisiana hunting a new job and stopped in Lafayette at Big Boy Hobbies and bought a few things: replacement shock shafts, replacement upper arms, spare lower arms, 46t spurs and male rx connectors to hook up my led bar.

    I got the SMC 9000mah 60c 3s batts in!

    And the new parts:

Also I placed an order at FullForce RC for their shock sleeves for X-Maxx

    XL2 2028 build

Glad you appreciate it hard to believe you could buy 2 X-maxxs with batts for the cost to build that one:/

yeah thats true. however with the racer x suspension and all the nice stuff you have in there its really a super nice rc car. makes me think wistfully about the razorback.... anyway. concerning the question above about waterproof escs i would have a look at the hobbywing max6 (or even max5). they are both waterproof and might work well for the x maxx.

The razorback is making an electric comeback in a month or two. I've already sold this chassis and preordered it! http://maxxparts.forumactif.org/t64-e-ghost-chassis

I was looking at those as well but couldn't find any reviews about it

The shocks shafts seem to be a weak point. There all snapping right were the threads stop. They seem brittle. Wonder if anyone will make a aftermarket tool steel or simmilar shaft? Maybe some RPM arms would be nice too lol

I don't know about the rpm arm part unless they make them stiffer. I remember back in my slash 4x4 days I broke so many Tekno bones because the rpm arms had too much flex and the bones would pop out of the cups and either break or twist.

Just FYI, installed the aluminum chassis on my 1/10 Summit and bent it. I ran into the neighbors truck tire at 15 to 20 mph and it bent bad. With the stock Traxxas chassis I had hit things that hard or harder and broke the small stuff. If you're going to bash not the thing to have in my opinion.

you dont understand the engineering behind that chassis. It's not a crappy kershaw or integy design made from cheap aluminum. Its cad stress tested and made from 7075 aluminum to hold up to the abuse of racing and hard bashing.

heck yeah! Should be getting mine this week.

Well todays run resulted in a stripped spur gear. Also, a weird think was happening, the truck would track straight for 3/4 throttle but when pulled all the way the rear end would pull to the left. not sure what is causing that. I'll have to pull the rear diff out and see if its a bearing or something.

I got a spektrum rx installed to use my DX4s for todays run and I am completely happy with doing that. The truck seems more responsive now and i was able to limit the break force down to 50% so i dont topple forward on hard breaking.
