    Slash 4x4 Bigger Tire/Rims

Is it possible to run larger tires and rims without doing any other modifications? I am looking to occasionally
gain some chassis clearance, so I can run on rougher terrain alongside my wifes Stampede 4x4 VXL.

You can. not sure how big you wanna go. Im running 1.96x4.40 proline badlands on my slash, maybe gave me a 1/4" more ground clearance. I had to do a body lift so they dont rub the body. I think you can put pede wheels and tires on the slash but not sure what all suspension you have to change. Or you could go to 2.8 wheels as this member did here
    https://traxxas.com/forums/showthrea...res-amp-wheels

Heres my thread on the body lift

I ran Stampede Talons on mine for a while(dollarhobbyz.com) Loved the way they looked but was less than impressed with their performance. My 3s 2400kv ended up stripping one of the hexes so I went back to stock. Running the 2.8s required raising and trimming the body. I will put 2.8s back on it...most likely some 2.8 Trenchers on some beadlocks.......shopping right now. Here's a pic of the Pede setup:

Here is my gf's slash with trenchers. I had to trim the body some, but if you don't wana trim the body you can buy some rpm adjustable mounts too raise the body or use proline adjustable mounts with the screw caps.

+1, if you like to drift, put in a 3s battery, slap on some Talons, find an empty parking lot, and wait for a rainy day. It's fun but gets old in a hurry.

Another option is 17mm hex adapters (I really like the ones from Hot Racing) so you can run buggy wheels/tires. There are a lot of cheap buggy tire options and you are much less likely to ever strip a hex.

I have since done the HR 17mm adapters. Currently running 2.2/3.0 Trenchers on Associated 17mm wheels. Do you have a link to the 1/8th buggy stuff. I seem to struggle finding 17mm options that I like(don't care for the solid wheel look) I would really like some affordable 2.8 beadlocks so I don't have to glue tires anymore. Ideas? (sorry OP don't mean to hijack your thread)

Dcuda, I'm still running the cheap pre mounted buggy wheels/tired that I got late last summer. They're no-name cheap-o's off eBay. I believe the seller was Suprasales. If I can find a link I'll post it shortly. Almost bed time over here!

This item is similar to what I found a few months ago but different seller and a bit more expensive:
    http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/331572856650
Sorry but I'm at a disadvantage away from my computer. Troll eBay for 17mm wheels and you'll find options. I'm just a basher so I don't worry about getting the highest quality tires. Hope it helps!

Beadlocks are heavy, usually very narrow, and NOT recommended for high power setups, 2s and below only....

Thanks OSU. I have bought some 2.2/3.0 stuff from Suprasales before, guess I'll have to check them out closer. Jimbo, isnt there 2.8 beadlocks in plastic? I never thought about the weight issue? I thought El Sob was running alum. 2.8 beadlocks on his 2400kv setup without issue?

Nope... El Sob runs 2.2/3.0 SCT wheels:

As for 2.8 beadlocks, not really. Some stretch/cut 2.8 tires on 3.2 Maximizer beadlocks:

OK..thanks Squeegie. I'll keep digging around. I was hoping there would be some 2.8 17mm beadlocks I could use.....apparently not. I'll probably end up with the F-11s/Trenchers like everyone else. No offense...I just like to find something a little different. My 1:1 toy is a 69 Barracuda....the popular car is a 69 Camaro.

    No offense taken.
Remember, my 1:1 toy is a 68 Firebird... NOT a Camaro either.

I just went from 2.8 badlands to 2.8 trenchers. ... trenchers are a much better all around tire than the badlands. I put them on f11's with 17mm hubs, I taped and glued them on then I balanced them. im really happy with this set up.

Im running 1/8th buggy badlands, they're very light and bigger than stock. They grip very well and overall pleased with them.

Great looking trucks! Question...guess I can ask here. I think I am going to pull the trigger on a ultimate slash tomorrow and I would like to get some 2.8s to go with it. Looking at the trenchers as of now. But my question is do I get a front and rear set or just one or the other? I want the wheels to stick out the same front to back. I may also one day get a emaxx body. Might widen the track down the line too. This is my first RC in many years and the first truck. TIA!

Ok I thought I had read to get the same but wasn't sure if that was for widened slashes or what. Couldn't find where I had read it. Is the offset different between f and R making the back stick out further?
