Welcome to the forum and the addiction! You are among a group of people who share the love of the Traxxas Slash 4x4! If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Remember we are here to help!

Yes you can take it off. You just un-screw it from the chassis and remove the speakers from the body. May I ask where you are located in Northern California?

You must be close to the Oregon border? I have never heard of Hayfork. If you were close to me, I would help you out.

Are you relocating it or completely removing it?

There's only one thing I don't understand. On the ESC there are three ribbon cables. One is auxiliary fan. One goes to the Receiver slot #2 What does the third one do? It plugs into a cable from the OBA unit. If you eliminate OBA module what do you do with this third cable? Is it power for the OBA?

To take it off you will have to open your receiver cover. Take the green plug in cavity #2 and unplug it. take the grey plug in cavity #3 and unplug it. ( These will stay with the OBA module) The black plug that is plugged into the OBA module take it and unplug it. ( this is the wire coming from esc). You will take the black plug and install it at the receiver in cavity #2. Note: you will not be using Cavity # 3. Hope this helps you.
