Interested in watching this unfold, so learn more about how the X-MAXX all fits together, so it will help me take mine apart! .

    Sounds like fun!

Ha ha. I'm guessing you won the eBay bid for xmaxx plastics? I was going to snag that last night but fell asleep. That was going to be my 2058 extreme build.

Are you buying the parts seperately? Im just on Tower messing about and I think Ive got a everything to build a roller, for 458 EXCLUDING Bearings. Anywhere I can find out how many of each bearing I require?

I won that one you are talking about. I started a week ago on rounding parts up. I have found some good deals. All parts so far have come form eBay.

I am going for the parts sold in groups. I will post a picture of the first batch of parts I got in and have assembled.

This is the first batch that arrived today.
    Before

After-the front bumper is on the way then that part will be complete

I do have some hardware to put some of this together, but I will be getting a screw kit. I will be needing it later in this build.
Total so far is $51.50 not including the batts.

Building vs buying outright? Building you can make it exactly how you want from the start. Get the chassis you want, the arms (typically RPM), power train you desire and any other upgraded parts you want.

If you are looking to purchase stock parts alone, IMHO, it will cost more. There's a reason why chop shops are in business: they make money because the sum of parts is greater than the whole.

I am looking for the best deals I can find. My savings can go towards aluminum parts if I choose to buy them. I have visited a few sites that have some in stock, there is a mod thread on here. Just looking at prices at this time. I will have to see what the total tally is when I finish this build.

So far all I have is stock parts. I am fine if it stays stock, but I am hoping I find some good deals along the way.

I'm tempted. My Tower basket has everything I need (I think, providing 3 packs of each screw set is enough) Excluding bearings (I dont know how many I need). Id then need Radio Gear an ESC/Motor combo. Ive included the servo as it looks fairly special.

Id honestly rather buy $2/300 of bits at a time and build it up with my electronics/wheels/shell. Building a kit is the best part of this hobby, and its almost gone.

You have two posts about the items you have in your basket. Go ahead a hit the checkout and do a little waiting game.

I'm gonna wait for the market to become a little more saturated with parts and upgrades. At the moment, the basket is $745. That exlcudes any bearings, the servo, the ESC, the motor, a RX/TX or a bodyshell..........

I've even typed a list up with what I need and split it into areas I could buy it bit by bit.....

Kits were the best thing about this hobby, shame theyre dying!

$745 is a little high you can buy one for that. The list idea is good I like that. I agree with the kits, I could spend hours on building a kit.

Oh it definately works out more money. The stock Xmaxx is 769 here (I cancelled my pre order @ 649 cause I'd STILL be waiting. So remember 769.

Using Tower Hobbies. Subject to postage and customs.

792 for every part needed (excluding Bearings and bodyshell) and a Castle Creations XLX with 2028 800kv motor and the Traxxas Servo.

    Add a DX4s from MSUK for 149
    http://www.modelsport.co.uk/spektrum...roducts/389330

    942 + Bodyshell (75) + Bearings (30) + Postage and Tax?

Thats an Xmaxx with far superior ESC/Motor/Reciever and Transmitter for around 250 more than The stock one. AND ive had the fun building it

Its obvioulsy more money, but not by a huge margain, and it could be made cheaper using chopshops (ive listed each individual gear etc in a differential, you could probably get these complete even inside bulkheads etc).

There isnt as much in it as I expected.

I have been eyeing the 2028 setup. Don't know if I will go with that setup just yet it depends on how much I can save up. Today I spent about $120 on parts. Once I get all the parts in I will get a pic of that then connect them to what I already have built up. I watched a video of the 2028 setup in the truck and it is impressive. Good luck on your build.

$52.57 on this batch of parts that came in from my online order. I split the parts list between an online order and I had my LHS order some parts.

If you are upgrading your motor and esc in your x-maxx and you don't need your stock motor and esc LMK i can use it for this build.

Over the last few weeks I've seen members posting there VXL-6s combo in the marketplace for decent prices. You should check there also.

Put in an order for more parts. This will complete the diffs and center drive line. Once I get the diff internal gears they will be ready to install. Front and rear diff will be completed at the same time. I will have to order a main spur gear, but was wondering what tooth count should I get? I also have to pick up some bearings that I had my LHS order for me. A goal of mine is to have it done by July we shall see.
