    I am green to FPV and extending range but not green to soldering and wiring.....so......How did you solder the coax to the PCB in place of the stock antenna. I have done this twice now (I have 3 transmitters) with a powered antenna & unpowered 3dbi,6dbi and 9dbi and have not increased range one bit. I have dissected the board and the socket the stock antenna is soldered to is grounded. So there is no way to keep the antenna and shielding of the coax open/unconnected. I am starting to wonder if the transmitters that do work with this are older versions. All mine are new. I did mine like this:

    I just used my multimeter and soldered the range extender to the same ground the original antenna was ground to.
