    MMX or MM2???

I am gonna swap out the ESC in the truck before I even run it for the first time. I have no plans to data log, ever. So is there any other functional differences between the MMX and MM2? If Data logging is it them the MM2 should be fine.

Why not get the properly sized ESC and run a XLX? It's not much more $$ and is designed to take the amp draw of a heavy 20+lb truck and can handle up to 8s

Just noticed that the Application Guidelines of Momba Monster X/2: Intended for up to 6S (25.2 Volt) operation in vehicles weighing less than 15 lbs,yet x maxx weighs 19.1 lbs.

The weight is relative to the load put on the electric motor which translate to the Amps drawn. So dont consider the weight so much but rather the Amps drawn through the ESC. The OEM ESC in the Xmaxx is considered 1/8th scale. People are having great results with the MMX/2 in the Xmaxx. Those that data logging their MMX are finding that they are with in the amp rsting of the MM2.

with that being said, I was under the impression that the MXLX is not waterproof. Is that true snd that is the reason why I have not looked at it.

The xlx is the fifth scale one.
Too much power is just enough

    My data log info.

    Smc 9000mah 3s
MMX esc, torque control set to 0 (not limited at all)
    Stock motor
    19/50 gearing

In the snow, 26 degrees outside, wet tar roads

Took it out to do some data logging.

Max amp draw : 145.6 amps
    Max watts: 3,160
    Max esc temp: 184.2
    Max motor rpm: 71,890

Esc fan is not turning on, have to look into it.

    Hope that helps

Thats what I thought I had read. So it appears the MM2/X is still the correct path. I have an email sent out to castle asking whst is their continuous and peak amp rating for these two units.

The Mamba Monster is rated 120A continuous and 300A burst.

If you're not going to use the data log function then I would save the money and get the MM2

I have already seen 160+amps on 8s and I haven't had it really wrung out yet, I don't know what it would do on 6s as I have no packs to run 6a, and yes it is not water proof which sucks

The fan is on the thermostat. I thought the same thing. But when you get it hot enough it will come on

    (I realize this is a 2016 thread)

I had this same experience with the fan. My issue with the MMX is the plug for the sensored connection and power switch can pop out easily (powers off the ESC). For this reason I stick with the MM2 when looking for a 6s esc.

Otherwise it is the XL-X for 8s use.

No HW max5? 200A/8S and waterproof.
    Expert rigging at it's best!
