Winds are 25 mph gusts. Not ready for night flying yet. My old eyes have a hard time keeping up with it in the day time. Decided to modify the video mode a little since I was updating anyways. Oh, my new legs and camera mount is in route. Currently looking for a gopro.

Got a Question? So after the update do I take the sd card out and fly or leave it in and fly; or does it matter?
    Thanks in advance.

I leave it in. I like that the aton is logging the flights.

Once the update is done you first clear the SD card then throw it back in. It kinda acts as a black box and possibly can help Traxxas figure out the issue if it crashed or does something funny while flying.

One more question? Once the card is full does it loop data or stay full till you clear it?

I should specify clear just the firmware file. The card will have a folder added that stores the logs so don't delete that.

I have updated mine both times, just did the newest update last night.
I have not flown it since loading 3.3.2.7, but the update installed properly 1st try.

I'm wondering if it matters if you don't delete the update file?
I did the 1st update almost immediately after getting my aton(1 test fligth 1st), and left the sd card in the whole time, meaning I did not delete the update file from the sd card. It flew fine every time, and I never noticed it doing anything strange when it 1st initializes.

When I took the sd card out to load the new update, I did see the log file the aton created, and I just copied over the updated file. What are potential problems if any by not deleting the firmware update file??

I was told this my tireslinger (Traxxas employee). He said do it for good measure.

It probably won't hurt anything. I'm curious if that file is still on there after the update when you power it on it might always look to see if that file is current or an update.

I just updated mine too to the new firmware. The process went smoothly. I also noticed that GPS locked in a lot quicker (don't know if that has anything to do with the new firmware) and its a pretty cloudy day here in Florida.
So far so good... Knock on wood...

I did mine this morning as well. I like the fact that you can go back to the original firmware. I wasn't aware of that so I decided to give the latest firmware a try. I now just have to wait for this darn snow to go away before I head out. I wish these things were waterproof.

Where do they have the stock firmware? I would like to save that on my computer for a backup.

I would suggest a name brand class 10 card. I've seen some "budget brand" cards that don't fit snug in the holder. It doesn't need to be a big or expensive card, anything in the 4 - 8 GB range will give you plenty of memory for a lot of logs.
Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.

So is this latest update supposed to fix the unexplained loss of control issues that some have been having?

we dont know as of yet because we dont know if all the unexplained crashes were software error or pilot, but they did alter a few things relating to to the flight under the automated control. so it may, but we dont know till issues get reported by flight logs.

however from most if not all storys were under pilot control but we still cant rule software out either way.

As you can see from my post count, (or lack thereof ) I am new to the Traxxas brand. (The Aton brought me over) From the little I've heard Traxxas has really good support so I'm very interested to see how fast they respond to and solve these issues ... and "how" they actually do it.

So is the general consensus that you should always have the latest firmware?

By the lack of traffic in this thread with users saying they updated their firmware and it fixed everything, it seems the general consensus is nobody wants to be the first one to try the new firmware. Maybe it's due to fear that the last update might have been a contributing factor to some of the issues described in the other threads in the forum.

Yet I get sense there have been reports of issues with both previous releases. I've been waiting to hear if this latest release helped resolve some of these issues but regardless I plan on updating and then going out and flying as soon as I get home from work tonight.

Do you have to do all the updates sequenctailly? Or does the latest version do all the updates at once?
    Thanks

So far I have about thirty flights on old firmware and about fifteen on new firmware, no problems! Even ran it too low once and low voltage kicked in and when it came back I override it and landed the quad my self. I have noticed my flight times are getting shorter as I'm pushing the quad harder each flight. Haha...

Whereabouts are you flying your quad? Do you think your surroundings are what contribute to a problem free flying experience? I live in a populated area and the only wide open space I can find are small baseball and soccer fields.

I fly mostly right in front of my house, and if I'm not to lazy head over to the park.
I had few different quads in the past, and by far this is the funnest and fastest of the ones I've owned.
