    Start of the Custom Build

Waiting on all my parts to show up. But since I was snowed in today decided to start messing around with the X-maxx. Made up some beadlocks. They are lime green as the body I'm in the process of painting has lime green in it.

How did you get the rings to fit? Did you make them? I want to add some to mine, since mine is already lime green.

Very cool homemade rings, or are they true beadlocks somehow?

Also interested in how you made them.... and photos too please.

I just made them. Measured and cut them out yesterday. Then I drilled out the stock wheel and screwed them on. Very basic and simple.

Just homemade. They screw into the factory wheel.

I de-annodized them with grease lighting degreaser. Works quickly and doesn't hurt the aluminum. Sealed the inner portion of the shocks so that the internal cylinder remained untouched. Then I re-filled with 50wt shock oil. Big improvement.

Going to de-annodize the stub carrier and wheel nuts tonight to get rid of all the blue.

It can be reanodized pretty simply with a battery and some dye.

Well, I say simply. I've never done it, just read about the process. Sounds simple enough though.
