    thesmogman's latest upgrades

Well over the last couple of weeks I have been emptying my wallet on getting my Slash 4x4 to where I have been wanting to get it so to start off here is my latest upgrade a Tekin pro4 4300hd.

I have upgraded to the GTR's front and rear a month or so ago.

I also have upgraded the servo to a new case and metal gears. I also have just replaced the last of the bearings that I haven't done. I also have done the revo slipper upgrade too.

I took it out for the first run with the new motor and experienced my almost first blow over, I caught it in time and did two 360's to a stop. I have decided that 2s is enough for me.

Thank's to all that have shown me the important upgrades that were necessary for me to get the most enjoyment out of our trucks.

It is a small led for night driving, it lights up the whole truck with a blue hue.

I already have a new set of tires for it that I painted the raised white lettering and they look too cool to run.

    Nice job!
That Tekin system would be my choice for a dedicated street rig!

    Thank's Squeegie!!

That is what I have been doing for the last year or so, but it still see speed bumps too. Yesterday I was geared at 18/50 with a motor temp of 120. I still have to GPS it but I am sure I am breaking the 50mph mark. It is nice to stomp on it at 40 and still get it a little slideway's.

My reason for that on a dedicated street rig would be because it is not waterproof as the Castle systems are.
That said, I've seen Medic use the Tekin systems in many wet situations with no problems.

Awesome upgrades. That Tekin was probably designed to get the most out of a 2s battery. 3s with that setup would probably be overkill.

I have had that body before. The blue beadlock rings on those wheels really makes that body pop! Those letterwall tires complete the look

Thank's ElSob, I got thru a whole pack yesterday before the rain and no breakage I did loosen the slipper a touch more.

It was the best the truck has ran. 45wt with pink springs in front and 35wt with black springs for the rear. Geared 18/50.
10k front diff and 5k rear. It was jumping very nice and wheeling all over. It was fun!!!!!!!

Well this is what happen's when you forget that you changed the front shock fluid from 45wt to 60wt.

It was one of my normal high speed turns, turn in and it lifted the front end right into the curb. Dropped the oil to 50wt and replaced the a-arm and straightened the sway bar. Back to good to go.

Naw, I have a few back ups But thx. Took it out for a run after the rain and ran it to lvc. Only my second time. The 50wt in the front shocks is still too much. Still pushing a little so I am going to 47.5 to try today. Still tinkering

I need to tinker with mine... still bugs me how much it moves.... I don't have crazy amounts of travel, and it sits great, but I am worried about it....

Thought I would add some of the adjustments I have made too. Here is the two washers that I added to the erevo slipper to adjust the back and forth play. The white washers came with a new steering/servo saver.

I made this little thing to stop some of the flex the front shock tower has.

And for the last tip of the day... I put aluminum washers under the screw's so if they strip I can get them out easier.

So there have been questions on how to apply grease, so here is what I use.

I guess the big one is for feeding little animal's and the little one I have had for years so I don't know what it is from.

Also I have seen a few posts with their center driveshafts have been damaged and such so I thought I would show how much space I have mine set to.

This is about 1mm. of back and forth spacing with a o-ring on the front hub. Now that I look at it I think I might give it a touch more..

Better than the plastic one for sure. I put grease between the motor plate and mount to transfer heat but proper gearing is a must. Thanks guy's for your compliments.

Well took her out for her maiden voyage. Geared her up a little 18/50 = 2.77 went to a 19/52 = 2.73. I didn't push on her but she was screaming down the street. Ran a few passes and a couple of speed bump wheelies and pulled her in.

Temp's out were near 100 so I just ran a couple of minutes and she showed no sign of heat.

And the best part...I didn't put a scratch in her.

PS: grease Grease grease. I like a quiet truck.

I agree. I have been trying to figure out a way to quiet down the Tekno center. It is vastly quieter than stock but I'd like it to be silent!

Sure have, it's been modified with the Dremel tool and does not rub, it just makes a little metal on metal sound when the bone engages the outdrives. It's really very minor, I'm just hypersensitive to noises.

it may attract dirt, but try some grease, or a dry lube --- something that will leave a coating on it
