The directions say to use only the outer three holes on the a-arms, but there was another very small piece of paper that said to use the these nylon washers to limit up travel. I did not install them because I have the bottom of the shocks in the outermost hole.

Here is the package info just in case someone want's it.

One thing don't make the mistake I did. MIP gives you a little dab of grease and loctite in a little case. The darker dab is the loctite and the lighter blue one is the grease. Yes, I used the grease as loctite and had to disassemble them and clean them and then use the correct loctite.
So first off. Love this thread. Your slash looks pretty clean man! And I'm in the Central Valley! Would like to get together with you guys some day and try to learn some of the knowledge y'all seem to have.
I don't mean to thread jack by any means but I was just curious how you got your mip race duty drive shafts to not rub on the hubs? I just bought a used slash and they had the mip X dutys on them and every single hub is super scratched up.....thanks in advance!

so without thread jacking, I run a pretty similar setup to thesmogman, and I do have MIP X duty axles, and no rub at all.... make sure you have the little spacer and there are no issues

Spacers that go where? Between the hex and bearing? I don't think it came with those. But whoever I got it from didn't take care of her.....but she's mine now and she's gonna shine some day soon lol

The po had some serious upgrades done to it. I'm gonna be pretty content with it once it's all clean. Can't think of anything else I would want to do to it immediately. Maybe some tires but that's it for now

Hey Maxx, do your MIP's have the pin's through the axle or are they the keyed ones? You could try putting the washer from the outside to the inside on the rears. Rubbing can also be caused by having to much droop. (Droop is how far the A-arms drop when the truck is lifted).

You can use the Traxxas nylon washers. Just make sure you leave just a little play so the axles can move in and out a touch.

You should be able to use one washer too on the front outside only also.

The ones with the pin's are the older version. MIP revised the axle part and now it has two flat spots on the axles for the wheel adapter slides onto. The axles were breaking where the pin goes thru.

The pic's Jimbo posted are the new keyed ones. The keyed ones require two spacers for the rears, like the pic's.

The ones with the pin were designed after the stock Traxxas ones and should be installed like the Traxxas ones.

One more update here.. Front MIP race duty's.

The drive cup's were not as tight, they just slid right on.

I don't notice any rubbing at all.

A tip for you, the recessed area goes out. Yes of course I installed them backwards.

    And for the part #

All and all they have been a breeze to install. Of course I had to finish off with all new bearings.

Well, this didn't end well. I bounced off a curb yesterday and...

Yes, I bent the new MIP shaft on it's maiden voyage.

I also discovered that with the front end hit I had a week or so ago I did damage the front diff housing. It also stripped two screw holes into the housing.

Ouch. One nice thing about the X Dutys is the splines. They allow for some give in the shaft, they are just so very heavy. I have them on mine and I would think a good racer would notice the difference in reaction times. Are you going to put Race duties back in again?

I'm wondering why they bend. Is the arm deflecting so much that the hard object actually hits the driveshaft? They're surrounded by other stuff, so I don't understand if something is hitting them or maybe the axle gets pushed so far back while on the throttle that they have to give.

I don't have an answer for you. I just bumped off a curb and it didn't even slow the truck down any. It also look's like MIP is discontinuing them also. Great

Hmm, it's probably the instantaneous shock of the hit to the tire/axle with the flex in the plastics that caused it to bend.

MIP say's it is because I am landing on throttle and with the torque of my motor it is causing them to bend.

I have a little drop-off that I hit and that is where my last post happened.

I use to do damage analysis on racing engine components for a major crankshaft company. Its hard to tell from that video but i don't see any signs of torsional twist in that shaft. That looks like a purely compression bend. I would hazard a guess that it was the hit that did the deed not landing on the gas. Easy way to tell. Look at the two drive pins. If they are still on plane then there is no twist in the shaft.

I will get a good pic when I pull it apart. Although I didn't hit anything, not even a roll over.

First I did a couple of speed runs and they were good.
Then I did a couple of speed bump jumps with wheelies and they were good.
Then I did the drop-off and the second time I did land a little hard but that is when it bent. The drop off is about 15 inches at about 45mph.

Wow. It is right in the fillet. I guess it could be, but it sure looks like a compression issue. Does it have play when the wheel is under full compression?

It was nice and smooth with both shocks compressed fully. You would think that at the most compression the part that would bend would be lined up in the direction of the pin's. And the shocks weren't getting full compression off the drop-off.

Well they know their stuff better than I do. I would love to look at that under a scope to see the flow of the grain structure. I would think if it was from torque it would have some rotation to it.
