1/5 scale wheels and tires on Xmaxx

Using the aftermarket adapter, you can use 1/5 scale wheels no problem. Turning and stability are greatly increased especially if you go the 8s system. As they are beadlocks many choices on the wheel and tire combinations are possible. You will lose the ability to self right as there isn't enough mass to get that rocking motion. But I have found that I flip or traction roll less often anyway.

Personally I use 5T rear Trenchers. The adapters are on ebay.

Huge improvement over stock and no ballooning!!
Went with a "staggered setup". New beast in the 8s powah handling department. Can finally get full throttle with no adverse handling.

Hmm, it seems that the other thread about 1/5 wheels/tires has disappeared. I forget who said they might get around to weighing some 1/5 scale wheels/tires along with the stock assemblies, but I'd still love to know those figures!

Removed for further review and for good reasons. And this is not the place to get off topic about questioning why or their interpretation of the rules. Stay on topic and within the rules and it will be fine.

Im the one who will try to get a gram weight this weekend.

Super Swampers would be awesome, I don't think there in the 1/5 scale size .....yet. I would be surprised if PL hasn't already started some R&D on a set for the Xmaxx.

Kooldeal, where were you lucky enough to find the Trencher pre-mounts, part #1155-13? I've searched and searched but can't find them in stock anywhere. I too would like to use genuine parts instead of knock-offs. And again, I'll be grateful if and when you get around to weighing those assembles for comparison.

DDM (Daves Discount Motors) they mostly are large scale stuff.

The spacers are just another aftermarket part selling more xmaxx's at this point. There on ebay, not selling anything just answering where I found mine.

Mmm, interesting. Losing self-righting was the only thing stopping me from using different wheels and tires. Well, that and having to spend the $200 for Prolines! Perhaps folks that have lost self-righting using 1/5 scale wheels and tires might just need to tighten their slipped clutch a little.

I've run the knock-off trenchers from companies like Rovan and King motors for years on my 1/5 scale trucks. Honestly there isn't a whole lot of difference between buying them at $85 for a whole set vs. closer to $200/set when you buy proline wheels/tires/foams.

The difference could be that I have the Leopard 1340 motor and BL5 ESC. Even on 3S batteries the truck is a heck of alot faster compared to the stock parts. So faster truck means more wheel speed which translates into more rotating energy to flip the truck.

But I tried the auto flip on 4s, wont do that anything as it spins them fast enough to sling the black out of the rubber (sarcasm)

MATTPOP, what did you have to do to the 5ive wheels to get them to fit other than the spacers?

The hub on these particular rims is thick. Too think so that the first thread is at the edge of the adapter once fitted. So I used a dremel to remove material from the rim. enough so that the adapter sat flush with the rim.

The adapters where just a hair to thick to slide into the hub of the rim. Luckily I have a pair of scissors that fit inside of the rim perfectly and I was able to use them as a reamer to shave out a tiny bit so that the adapters just fit with a tap to get them in.

Anyone else running 1/5 scale adapter and wheels? Lets see some pics. I'm gonna try my blockades next just to see how it is on loose tracks. Man hostile mxt's with the ice spikes are going to be fun! All these 1:5 tire/wheel/ring combos are great. Probably put my blue beads on this week. Maybe drop the cash and get the aluminum wheels for the shows.

I'm going to wait until proline comes out with a specific tire for the truck. It would be nice to get something thats stronger but still monster truck sized.

I got these wheel nuts for my 1/5 scale tires! They were pretty cheap compared to the other adapters I've seen. They work great so far and look awesome as well! A lot more threads to tighten on than the stock nuts. Nut also has an integrated centering ring for the large scale wheels. They were 29.99+3$ shipping. No modifications to fit.

Are the X-Maxx wheels / tires bigger or smaller than a standard 1/5 scale monster truck wheel / tire?

I'm not sure of all tires but mine are 8.2 inches in diameter. Stock is 8 inches.

I got my 1/5 scale tires today! I really love the look and my drivetrain will love the reduced rotating mass. RCMonster adapters
