    My Stustler? Rustede?

Well after six hours of modding and piecing my Stampede into a Rustler I finally got done. Here's some pics of the gal.

I also think with the lower chassis it will handle jumps better. And control better if everything is closer to the ground.

Is it just the angle of the pic or is the rear width a lot less than the front? I like the glow as well. Would make night driving fun.

The glow was actually a purple glow stick lol. It turned out blue in photos! But I do want to have some lights in it for night driving. The width should be the same. I only have my stampede bodies right now. I'll get more pictures after I get home from school!

Sorry if I double posted any pics! I kind of like how the body sits up higher too.

Also does anyone have a new Rustler/Bandit? How does the speed control fit on the plate? I had to cut the side tab off mine for it to fit. And only one screw can go in. I hate now how all the diagrams are for the newer ESC already

I bought the misses a "new" rustler but of course I believe its only a vl.
I have bearing and the suspension bar to make her a vxl....Lol
I am way digging the stance, rims and the truck body. Good job!!!
I had found a 69 charger body but was afraid it would not fit the rustler...

Dude, how did you hook up the plug for the heatsink fan????
I am wanting to get one for mine and the misses ride but I dont understand where they plug into??
I have the spektrum radio/controller. It has 3 plugs on it. 1 for steering, 1 for esc and 1 for something called bind.
    Help a brother understand....lol

Well the speed control fan? That fan just connects through the red connector with the cord on the ESC. And it just clips onto the heat sinks. And thanks! I do like the stance too! I can't wait until I get the aluminum parts I want! I'm going to get a aluminum front bulk head and all aluminum Hot Racing Transmission for her. And aluminum steering parts. Also definitely considering the colored aluminum camber links!

Looking at the pics it looks like you don't have the ESC mounting plate. Not sure but look at pn#3725, this is the esc mount. You don't really need it as you can use ESC adhesive tape, 3M outdoor double sided tape or shoo goo to mount it on the opposite side of the battery, just wasted space there and it will give more room for taller batteries and lowering the body.

You mean receiver? Unless you mount it under the chassis..... Lol I just took her out for a test drive... Bad news! I think one of my cells in my three cell battery has died, and my batteries are dying fast. LIKE FAST

The VXL requires a larger mounting plate than an XL-5, the one Jerry listed would be the correct one. And Stampedes have several different plates as well. Not sure if those fit a Rustler, never tried.

Oh... Yeah I have a mounting plate for the xl-5 or what ever the brushed ESC is. I didn't know there were other ones! Well I got mine sorted out and. Nice green color scheme! I like it

I'm with Jerry on mounting the ESC on the chassis. On the VXL, you have to trim off the mounting tabs.

My previous sig conflicted with a forum policy.

Does anyone know why my batteries would only last like 5 minutes but I can't even get to my top speed? It just started doing that... I have my motor fan and speed control fan. Is it too much power to draw out?

Do you have a way to check your voltage? I picked up one of these and it is pretty accurate with my chargers reading.

Your charger may not be charging properly, bad battery. I would not think the fans would pull that much unless one is bad.
Unplug the fans and run it and that will tell you if it's the fans.

BTW this is the only Integy product I have that I would suggest for anyone

Do as Jerry and Dave said and drop the esc into the port well. Shave the ears off it and it will drop right in. Use two sides molding tape to hold it down. It will breathe better and lower the CG and make it easier to fit the bigger batteries in. Plus you can route the cables all nice like as Dave shows in his pic.

The spektrum receiver has the bind port so that you can bind the radio to receiver with the bind plug. There should be a batt plug to plug the fan into.

Hey there, thanks for some input on this. Of course since I am new to the hobby I don't understand the "bind". Unless it means it runs only with specific car/transmitter...
I have the Spektrum SR201 receiver. I don't see a batt plug on this. Here is a pic of it

I think by "bind" they mean connect? So it runs with everything properly...
No offense lol but not many people really organize their wires! My OCD kicks in with wires in my car...

Even now I'm starting to think"dang j should've moved that hole for my ESC wire about 1/8th inch over..."

The bind port is for just that lol binding. You plug a little bind connector into that port and press a button on your Tx and your Rx will bind to your Tx.

As far as i know, there is still power to that port so you may be able to use it for powering a fan.

If you have an extra plug laying around with a pigtail, you can plug it into the bind port and probe the wires with a multimeter and see if you find suitable voltage that you can use to power fans and such.

Or you can use something like Traxxas p/n 2046 servo splitter "Y" harness to power your lights. I would probably split the ESC connector as it supplies the power as opposed to powering lights and servos off the same port.

Haven't really ran with them a whole lot. They do grip but they do balloon but not as bad as anacondas. These are my backup tires.

Do you know if they're thin? Like... The rubber can't be thin because it's a bald(ish) tire. So I'm assuming it's thicker than normal proline tires?

Nice walls, it's like a darker blue than mine! Lol anyway I ripped my talons, went too fast and hit a rock so it ripped it up n foam flew out. Where do you drive yours? I'm worried about rocks hitting it and ripping it up.
