8s pmt 1/5 tires avc Spekrum 1650kv test ..wheelie

    Ok, first test is done.
8s with 14t and 44 spur and pmt tires did 62 mph.
With avc I can punch it from 0 mph.
    Yes... on 8s!

    And it did wheelies.
First I thought it hit a rock.

So i had to try 5 wheelies and killed the left side drive shaft.
Just snapped due to the grip from soft pmt 1/5 tires and 8s.

I did 73 on same gearing with 6s. Im using a tekin RX-8 and a Traxxas 2200 motor. Did you turn something down? Maybe my GPS is set to kilometers or something stupid. More to follow.

2200 on 6s should result in similar number as 1650 on 8s.
    If battery can deliver.
Ive noticed that calculator vs radar gun vs gps often result in similar value on gps/radar. But minus 10-13 mph vs calculator.
In my case its ~ were my cars usually end up.

Calculated max 3.7v per cell is 77 mph , minus 12 mph and we end up just over 62 mph.

Nice run, good to see the AVC holding up at high speeds. I've been really pleased with my AVC system on my off road vehicles. I didn't care for the throttling feature though, so I tuned it down to 0%.

Just wanted to let you know what I was experiencing with my 8s Leopard 5882 1360KV*setup.
I kept snapping axles also then 1 day when I had my gopro mounted inside the body I snapped one of the front axles. I noticed it wasn't when I was under heavy load but it was mild load and I hit a bump. It caused the wheel to lift off the ground. When the wheel came off the ground it looked like the differential did what it was supposed to do and the speed of that wheel dropped and I think it may of even stopped it's hard to tell.
Then when it hit the ground again undr load, I never lifted off the throttle the wheel and axle go from stopped maybe even reverse to full forward speed again. SNAP.
So I figured I try putting 500k weight diff oil, it's more like putty, to almost lockup the diff.
So I try the same run in the same spot again and no more SNAP.
When the wheel comes off the ground now it doesn't try to slow, stop or change direction as quickly.
Downside the turning circle isn't as tight.

    Had 3 incidents today.
First I added 29t pinion and did a wheelie around 80mph when I punched the throttle.

Added more downforce on the wing and manager to do a 360 flip.
    Landed on the wheels.

Did a third round without the wing and hit a pole after a spin out due to wet surface.
    Need to fix some parts.

Btw got a 5892 motor on order.

I hear you. Wrecks are not fun with these cars. That doesn't look too bad though. At least your batteries stayed in the car.

I think that Ill tune it down to 4s when I get the 5892 motor from Kershaw. Right now the battery cant deliver whats requested. Dual 4s in paralell with total of 10000mah and 70c should be more fun until I find a new high speed track.

    5892 1340kv installed.
First test drive had a bit of cogging from zero stand still with 34t pinion.

Wow. Just read your thread and that is awesome. I have a rustler which I've been beating the crap out of speed. Reached 73.5 on stock vxl system. Was either curious if I should spend another $400 to make it a 100mph car or get an so-1 and fiddle with that. Decisions decisions nice xo-1 it looks good. Gotta love crashes.

    First drive with new bearings.
    paralell 6s 5000mah

First the outer pin in the rear drive shaft on rhs broke.
Then the shaft out from the cush drive broke.

The losi is quite a bit larger
main difference is that xo-1 is a 1/10 scale 3s drive train fit to a 1/7 scale base plate. Way to weak.

Losi got heavy duty drive train and bearings.

Changed the diff oil to 1000 000... Yes million.
blue printed everything after last weeks prop shaft and drive shaft faliure.

    2 minute bash with 10000mah 6s and 1340kv 5692 22/56 rnp.

    Another drive shaft faliure.
The xo-1 1/10 scale drive train cant handle the combination of 1/5 super soft grp, weight and power of huge set of dual 6s and 5692.

Same spot as the other one

Used a shaft from my speed run xo thats waiting for a new servo.
Did a Quick bash and I measured tire temp. It got almost no temp in the front and the rear are really sticky.
Rear right got some extra load due to torque steer due to shaft drive.
So the motor is turning the chassis loading rear right tire.

Might benefit from some anti roll bars.

Did some gps runs with 1340kv 22/54 rnp 6s.
    Did 87kmh 55mph and thats spot on 90% 3.7 v theoretical speed.

    Easy to drive.
WOT from 5mph is no problem at all.

    Ill try 8s tomorrow

    62mph flat with low c rating 8s 5000 mah.
72 mph should be possible. Bet that the lipo deliver under 3.3v at WOT

But Im gonna try grp super soft wheels and do a comparision to medium grp.

Had 2 different xo for a speed run.
    2 broken rear axles.
one axle went with 8s 5892 1340kv and one inner joint went on the 6s 2650kv 4274.
Getting bored changing axles twice a week.
This car is way to weak for good traction.

I have xo-1 and using a Hobbywing 2000kv 46/34p 6s with average speed of 215kph/134mph. I have had trouble with it getting to much air under it so I have lowered it more and I think that will stop that.

When I say get air under it it takes off and will fly 20-30m in the air and land normally upside down and slides tell it stop. Yesterday it took off @220k's hit the back of my leg and hit a pole 10M away and broke lots of stuff. Its all back together now. It broke the front shock tower so I made one so I could lower it more to keep it on the ground.
I have had the car to 233kph but have run out of good road to drive on..

Could it just be the sheer torque of the bigger motor/8S set up combined with the extra grip from the GRP tyres that are breaking the drive shafts? after all, they were only really designed for the standard motor, 6S combination and stock tyres, not really for additional torque. So you end up over-loading the drive-train. The stock motor is designed to spin to 41,580rpm on 6S in stock set up. With the 1340kv set up, the motor will spin to 45,024rpm on 8S. With the 2650kv set up, the motor will spin to 66,780rpm on 6S.

It's also worth taking into account the start up torque of the motors - the bigger motor (even with lower KV) will have much more initial torque, which will cause a lot of the issues. Generally when the car is rolling, the loads are reduced because of static friction. How is your ESC set up? if you go for a softer punch setting, that often helps soften the blow on the drive-train - yes, it won't be as fast initially, but it should reduce the wear & tear significantly and hopefully minimise breakages.

Im using both the AVC and skyrc to control this monster.
But Ill guess Ill need to tune it down.
The motor is almost twice as strong at 8s vs 1717 6s.
And at this Point I also got traction.
    I never broke axle/joint with 1717.

Motor is now swapped from the 6ix to my second xo.

    Skyrc 5892 vs leopard 5892

Another shaft broke. Rear rhs. Either Im going back to stock wheels or Im giving grp a final chance. But they fit the losi r8 so that might be a Wise choice. Ive bought shafts for 200$ this summer. They last 2 6s packs.
For speed runs the stock work fine.

Im going to sell a couple of the rc hornet adapters.
