    GTR shock issue

So recently I bought GTR shocks and love them. Until recently I have only been doing onroad racing with my slash and enjoyed how low it was to the ground. Now its annoying and concerning. It is very low to the ground on the front with the pink springs and 32 weight silicone. If I install the stock shocks with the same 32 weight silicone, it easily keeps the slash to max height. Any ideas on why the front gtr shocks cant hold up my slash? Its only the front shocks though.

Here is a pic of my front shock...

Note the coil count. I think you have the XO-1 springs.

EDIT:Now that I can compare them both I think you do have the correct springs. I would take the shock's off and check for binding in the a-arm hingepins

Maybe put some rear XX-Long springs on the front?

Did you buy the correct GTR shocks?
    Front: 7461X
    Rear: 7462X

If you lift the truck, will the A-arms fully extend?

Yes they fully extend. No binding it just doesn't seem to be able to hold up the truck. Anyway to know if I got xo-1 springs?

X0-1 springs have only one thick color band on them. Yours has 2 color bands:

Note: I did not see pink front springs for the X-01.

I think you do have the correct springs.

When was the last time you serviced the shock's? Also check for a bent shock shaft too.

Did you remove the shocks and see if the a-arms move freely?

He He I found it.... The camber rod is interfering with the spring in your first pic.

I don't know what Traxxas had planned by creating springs that are shorter than the shock. I've never seen an answer.
I started out with Traxxas GTR springs and quickly bought Losi ten springs. I'm happy with them.

Serviced before I took the photos. Camber rod doesn't touch the shock but is close. A arms move freely without shock. No idea what it could be. Oh and neither rod is bent nor either a arm

Do you have the Losi spring number(s)? I tried some Losi springs....they were WAY to long/stiff. I had to take them off. Currently running the VG Racing springs and like them but I'm always looking for options.

GTR springs wear out pretty fast IMO, especially the fronts with so few coils. Try blue ones.

Or stick XXL rear shocks on the front with a rear shock tower and pick whatever front TEN-SCTE springs you want. That's what I do.

As of right now I am broke beyond imagine. Have around $50 left to spend no joke. Would like the cheapest plan I can get. I think I'm gonna go with the XXL spring on the front. That should allow me to get full range of the shocks correct?

Do what I do. Take the springs off and stretch them. You can get the desired performance you want by taking a little time and it is absolutely free. I don't buy Springs. I make mine the way I want them.

Stretch them? Like just pull them with pliers?

You should be able to stretch them by hand. Try to get them the same length too.

If you pull them with your hands slowly you can get the desired performance from it. Then just stretch the other spring to match the same length as the first and you are finished.

Yes , buy you're desired springs. I run Proline shocks. Their springs are awesome. Try them.

Damping has nothing to do with the sag IMO. The springs only have 3 turns on them, they will sag.

    +1

The front GTR's spring wear out.
Why? Because they have so few coils and fatigue.
Why? Because the shocks are short.
Why? Because the front shocks have to be compatible with the Stampede/Rustler/Bandit.

The fix is to get longer shocks that have a wider selection of higher quality springs. You'll get a bunch of other benefits as well.

Has anybody tried running the rear spring with the orange stripes on the front. The spring rate is less but when installed may be acceptable rate with little or no preload.

No its not but will it at all help with keeping the car up or will they compress just like the pink ones?

They will compress like the pinks, but since they are stiffer overall they will help keep your car up.

you can buy the blue ones, i have em, even put rear blues on front. it helps a little but I think its like others said, them front shocks are just to short, i know what im gonna do when i get a chance.... re do my dampening kit. but if that doesnt work im gonna get a rear dhock tower to mount up front and you know...

    goodluck
im just a noob trying to dial in my front gtrs, rears were so easy. cause they are larger.

I just changed out the pink springs for the black ones to give them a try and noticed that the pink springs had shrunk. As in they were 1/4" shorter than my black springs. Hmmm. It's the spring!!!!

This is not right, What to do?

Like I said, put rear shocks on the front. That + a rear shock tower, and you're good to go. Bonus points if you buy a set of TEN-SCTE springs.

Losi springs are the same length as the Traxxas GTR rear springs. Is that what you want?
