    Slash 2wd X0-1 Conversion Project.

Was cruising the ebay and came across this killer idea.

Its xo-1 fairings and undercarriage bolted to a slash 4x4 lcg. It looks amazing!!!!! Basically its a Slash XO-1 rally Crossover. Its sweet. its a 4x4, so maybe I can get away with using a 2wd. if not getting a lcg 4wd chassis and modding it for 2wd only is still an option. (all weight in front of rear tires)

Not my auction, i do not endorse it, or guarantee its safety or anything like that, just posting it to show where i got this idea from, as its not 100% mine lol.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/141946839886...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

SO my next project, not on my slash vxl, since that one is staying off road(with continuing mods), is going to be an dedicated on-road slash.

I have this chassis coming to me, which i will try and use. Already been modified for reduced weight. I plan on adding all the electronics to the battery tie down strap.... lol

i got a hobbywing sc8 4s speed control, and a Kershaw designs 2700kv motor. (i have 2 of these setups, one is setup in my dhk hunter 4x4 with 2.8 trenchers and it hits 50mph easy!, puts my mamba monster erbe to shame, so i think this in a slash 2wd will just be insane)

what ya guys think of my project? worth it? or just buy an xo-1 or road car lol

My slash 4x4 next to my xo-1

And I saw a video on YouTube were someone extended a rustler to mimic a xo-1 so it is possible, if you are into the type of stuff as far as taking on project like this then I say do it!

wow that's nice Milt, you got a build up thread for it? i like yours better. You modified the size and kept it once piece, the other guy chopped it up. i knew posting it here would help me lol

I think you have a great idea going bro. It looks like you will have a good start with the roller you are getting. I say get the xo1 diffusers and start putting it together.

I've been thinking about doing an on road conversion for my slash 4x4 with the diffusers and the short wheelbase version (328 mm)of this body when it comes out:

    Thanks A1 and Thanks Rad!

That rustler is pretty darn sweet! good ideas there

Yeah Rad i will be adding xo-1 to my searches in ebay from now on hehe

    traxxasfan21

that body is sweeet! When you do your build up, post a thread i deff want to check it out!

i always been thinking i would find a Styrofoam/foam ball or block, and just carve out the shape of the body of the car, than hollow it out in the wheel wells and middle, so that everything fits inside and its flat on the bottom. try to make a ram air function that feeds cool air to the middle.

this diffuser idea is a lot easier, altho more costly lol.

    ---

i got my drag chassis in the mail today and have been tinkering with it.

added my hexes and wheels. it had turnbuckle suspension....

without turning up the suspension the front plate touches the ground.

    hobbywing sc8 + kd 2700kv - traxxas tqi controller+tsm receiver - traxxas 2075 servo - traxxas 7400mah 2s lipo

other springs wernt long enough the truck drove on the wheelie bar the whole time.

thinking bout adding hole so antenna can sit str8 up lol (proline mounts in lowest spot blocks the body clip on the rear shock tower.)

I'm thinking of "acquiring" some fast food trays, and making a drop jig and heating it to shape. lol just cover most the bottom at once lol. the chassis is cool, it almost looks stampede-ish.

I ordered a custom parma 66 muscle baja body, just like this white one, guys going to paint it to a style/theme i wanted. we will have to see how it turns out... when/or if i get it lol.

Hey fourdub I'll pm you a link to the conversion when I start. Won't be till mid July. That wheelie bar seems way too long for the car. The locked turnbuckle suspension is actually a really good idea for drag cars.

    thanks man.

I kept the turnbuckles on the front, I might replace with the shocks tho. First i'll try adding more support for the front of the body. it only has 1 mount in the middle so it wobbles a little. looking at those foam bumpers, and maybe installing 1 or 2 proline twist caps on the bumper to the body. would prolly be around the grill area, as the body sits really low. almost too low, in my video of the test run you can hear it catching on the road.

Also the turnbuckle suspension in front kinda lifts one of the tires if the rear has substantial roll, and that also causes more body scraping.

some pics from today's testing and some video

gotta preheat those tires! (I'm not sure if you do or not, but I have fun doing it) used a little too much water this time and didn't get any tire smoke.

couple short passes on 3s lipo 15/52 gearing 32pitch 5mm... think I need a bigger pinion... or a way bigger spur

thanks guys, you have a recommendation for a starting point?

it came with a mod1 36t spur, which I swapped for the hot bodies one. I could go back with just a pinion.

    thanks guys again

I would try the 36t spur and maybe a 16t - 20t pinion. I run a 20 in one of my street bashes and it's got great launch and top end speed.

thanks for the response to that question.

i messaged the guy on ebay i got this chassis from and he said he used a 25t pinion, and was over 100mph!

so i may go with a 20 or 23 or 25, or maybe get all 3.

thanks again! this paycheck I will be looking for a little Garmin or similar gps for speed recording. need to record video with my phone lol

    thanks again for the recommendation!

No worries bro. I'm part of a great community on YouTube were guys are super helpful and really cool. I made sure I gave yout a sub yesterday. I learned a lot from here and youtube. I would suggest a front bumper weight if your going for 100mph+.

hey Rad thanks for the sub! yeah i see a lot of youtubers posting on other people's stuff tips and suggestions on fixes its a good place to get info on things you want to purchase and ect.

i am pretty sure this dragslash 2.0 weighs a bit more than the regular dragslash because of the that thick metal plate. it doesn't flex... i picked it up by the wheelie bar and was swinging it around threatening people with my sword of +3 motoring... no one was amused, but me.

i will wait to try the car on a 4s battery until the underskirt/diffusers are done. plus i think i will also pack the chassis with light weight foam.

next thing is re-carbon fiber taping the bottom of the plate and adding a bumper.

thanks for posting, i'll keep everyone updated!!

dude, that is an awesome dragslash! I bet that is going to be like a rocket with the 4s in there. Are you going to go with a high discharge rate? Also, I am not sure if it exists, but it would be so fun to have a tiny parachute on the back that could release on break input from the transmitter hahaha

    Thanks C.o.w.

It is pretty quick! I ordered a 20t and a 25t 5mm mod1 pinion. I'm hoping wit this 36t spur, it will be even faster.

I have been looking into the parachute idea.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Box7...&nohtml5=False

this youtube video documents how this guy made his. I planned it out, basicly the same except no can/tube, mine was gonna have a swing arm that threw it behind the car, but using a 2nd remote/rx/esc for the action. (or maybe I will buy the 4 channel remote)

been raining here past several days, so I haven't had a chance to get some more tests in.

    soon soon...

ahhh, yeah all sorts of them around. I was looking at the no tangle ones. basicly a cloth cone, with breathable mesh on the front(bottom), and a parachute, cup in the back(top).

get maybe 3 of these, and do a small triple chute.

    My ghetto chute deploying system:
the arm compresses the folded chute against the bumper. When the arm raises, the chute will start to unfold then it will catch the air and it will slow the slash down. The chute will be attached to the rear shock tower. Since I don't have a chute that can stand up to the forces of deployment, I'll test tomorrow with a plastic bag.

    lol, that's pretty cool.

I was out testing this dragslash 2.0, and on 25/36 mod1 gearing, it wont go faster than 50 MPH.

Makes me wonder if, I can find a 25t 48pitch pinion for 5mm shaft. than go back to running 25/86.

Anyone got a good recommendation on where I should go from here?

    hobbywing sc8 + 2700kv motor, and a 3s battery.

----still got my eye out for x0-1 parts, and also other things I can use for a underchassis.

I thought you would be running 6s with those gears and a lower kv motor....my bad. Try and bump up to a 4s with that motor but be careful on temps. What did yiu use for measuring your speed? And you can also bump up your gears....36t pinion 36t spur is always an option.

I used my cell phone with DigiHUD app. pretty accurate.

this hobbywing is a 4s esc I believe... will have to check box again. (checked: 4s max)

i'll look into a 36t pinion to go with the 36t spur.

I was gonna pick up a high discharge 3s battery, but I may end up getting the 4s battery now, as I have 2 trucks with this hobbywing sc8/2700 combo. the dragslash and a 4x4 sct.

so I could use the battery for either..

    thanks for the reply!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I made some progress on the undercarriage for the dragslash.

I mocked up a pretty good model, however it is not firm enough to be tested. I will be trying a variety of different materials in the next few weeks, to see what's good. I have my eyes on some thin sheets of Plexiglas, but thinking since my mockup is completely flat I can use basically anything that's big enough and just cut the shape I need out of it.

might have to implement an anchor system, you normally see on front diffusers, but internal (inside of body).

also short video.... I know I know I need to clean that side!

    thanks man!!!

So, my set of xo-1 wheels came in, as well as my 17mm adaptors. they are too big bought the wrong set.

The 14mm hex fits into the 17mm splined hex, so I just mocked it up. I'm using proline body nuts, on the wheels.

Dragslash 2.0 dosent have any electronics in it at the moment.

Also my new body came in.

body mounted, does look a little funny with bandit arms installed, wheels tucked in deep, but it has maximum clearance there.

tried several different front tire combos, looks like bandit ribbed front tires is going to get first live test run.

    installed the drift charm hehe

forgot I already owned a set of 17mm splined hex adapters for slash.... moved the xo-1 wheels out quite a bit. still tucked within the parma bodies.

edit: front tires are pro-line prime 2.2" 2wd MC (clay) fronts on Pro-line velocity 2.2" hex front white for RB5 12mm Hex

rebuilt the dragslash since I've been sitting on xo-1 tires for a while now. I bought a front bumper.... but... its a lot smaller than it looks on the website lol.... looks like a 1/16th scale stampede spoiler lol.

just messing around out in front of the house, and it was doing good, I took a turn too fast the unglued primes on front gave up lol.

still working on a bottom for this... but... I got this new crazy... crazier idea.... more details later hehe

I'm mapping out a decal sheet for the Miku Hatsune / anime girl body. I will use the body in some passes/videos. I think it looks better with a few dings and scratches on it.

I like this body but I am not in love with it, thinking of having another one made, with a better layout design. coulda been a lot cooler lol.

as of now, I use the white body, and display the miku one.

finally glued the primes last night and ran her today.

smoked the clutch a little. 194 degrees on the temp gun. a little hot. was half a turn backed off. I waited for it too cool, than made it 1/4 turn backed off.

    No GPS today.

gonna look into a e-revo slipper clutch upgrade.

also maybe jump on that locked diff bandwagon lol...
