Advice/ideas on mounting new ESC - upgrading the week old Slash

Yo! I just got my new 4068 2650kv motor and 150a ESC. Got the motor mounted with a new STRC motor mount. Relocated the receiver box but now I need advice on how to mount the ESC. This thing is huge compared to the stock VXL3S. I was thinking of just mounting it with double sided servo tape but not really sure how that will work since the bottom of the chassis isnt flat due to the honeycomb pattern. Thanks in advance!

Oh...one last thing. Actually several last things....how do you make sure you have the proper gear mesh (not too tight vs too loose). And why is it recommended to swap out the slipper when going with a bigger motor?

STRC makes a plate specifically for mounting esc's for the Traxxas Slash 4x4's. You could also cut and old DVD cover and make your own.

As I don't see any ears on the ESC I will recommend making or finding a flat plate, traxxas has some with holes drilled, I don't have a number, found it at the lhs. I drilled to fit and use 3M dual lock, like plastic Velcro, quite strong, they " snap" together

I've used just a flat plate of carbon fiber. Tape your esc to the plate, bolt the plate to the chassis. Works great and is easily removable.

Are there holes in the back of the esc for screws? My Hobbywing came with a plate. Two screws hold the esc to the plate then the plate screws to existing holes in the chassis. Maybe you could fab something like that?

I know this inst relevant to the solution, but does mounting the receiver box up front give up any durability for the box?
its not fun until something breaks

I have the hcg but the concept is the same. I made the first mounting plate out of some scrap plastic-

Then I broke my chassis in half so I decided to make an aluminum one-

And I feel the rx box up front makes it more vulnerable. I'm not moving it though.

Just fab up your own mounting brackets:

You can do the same thing squeegie did with lexan too. Just get a sheet, cut it to length, hit it with a heat gun, and bend it. It's best to use a vice so you get a straight bend.
