Only 4,900 sold? I would have thought it would be more. But that's worth 4.1mil minus the overhead.

Is the fusible link still the fix or will they be replacing ESC's completely?

I have heard this somewhere else, supposedly the fuseable link alone was not fixing the problem now I heard of some people going to their LHS and getting a firmware update for the esc and that is supposed to help with the catching fire.

    The link says

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled trucks and return their electronic speed control to their dealer for a free firmware upgrade and installation of a new fusible link, or contact Traxxas customer support to return the electronic speed control and have a firmware upgrade and free fusible link installation.

I know mine is not affected but in more concerned about how in supposed to get a firmware update? I live a few hundred miles away from the store I brought my xmaxx from and how are we supposed to know what firmware version we have unless you pay for the Bluetooth wireless link? I've emailed Traxxas directly and will see what they say

It says in addition, 96 trucks were sold in Canada.

You can update the firmware yourself if you have the bluetooth module installed. I just checked mine (2 blinking red lights when turning off esc) and it was ok .

Best thing to do is call Customer Support.

Not sure how this has "just been announced."
The recall notice has been on the Traxxas homepage for weeks.

It most likely it means that the U.S. Government recognizes this recall as official starting June 1, 2016.

    From the CPSC page.

    Incidents/Injuries
The company has received 40 reports of fire. One injury to a finger has been reported.

    Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled trucks and return their electronic speed control to their dealer for a free firmware upgrade and installation of a new fusible link, or contact Traxxas customer support to return the electronic speed control and have a firmware upgrade and free fusible link installation.

    Hazard
Vehicle modification or electronic failure can result in a short circuit, posing a fire hazard.

So a fusible link with a firmware update fixes short circuit failures that can cause fire hazard?
It would be nice to hear/read how this fix works technically.
