Rustler ESC+MOTOR for long duration run

Hey, could you suggest me for my rustler. I have an idea to go from point A to point B (distance 10 km).
I have a 3s packs so i need something that will handle the power and the longer runs.
Oh... and idea for the pinion and spur

What's your budget for the motor and speed control?

Castle is a good place to start these days.

What speed are you wanting to travel at?

The slower the speed the longer run time you'll get.

What amperage of battery are you using?

Wanted speed is arround is (70-80 kmh) 45-50 mph
No problem with the budget. I have Sidewinder 3 with 5700 motor but i am not sure that this ESC would handle the distance.
The lipos are 7200 mah with 75c
    so new combo, what gears?

The Sidewinders are absolute garbage in my experience. Other people love them, but I do not. The Castle X series is much, much better.

With proper gearing your electronics should have no problem with heat or reliability given that everything else is spec'd properly.

Are you running a 2S or 3S LiPo battery? According to Castle the Sidewinder is good for a 1406 size 7700kv motor, but only on 2S.

Well, i will use my 3s batteries with 5700 motor
Maybe i should sell the sidewinder and motor and get better setup, what do you think?
    What gearing i should use?

I think I may have misread your post initially. You are using a 5700kv motor not a 7700kv motor as I stated above. The Sidewinder might be fine. According to Castle, from the same link I posted in my previous post, the Sidewinder 3 can handle 1406 5700Kv: Max Cells: 3S Lipo or 8 NiMH.

A 5700kv motor will have no problem getting you to your goal of 45 to 50 MPH. The stock Velineon 3500kv motor will do that on 3S. You have to be more concerned with heat which is controlled by gearing. Stock gearing should be fine, but you'll probably be going faster than 50 MPH. The best thing for you is to download the manual for your Rustler (I'm not sure if you have the brushed or brushless version - often the stock gearing is different) and go from there.

You may also want to look into on-board telemetry to watch your temperature over the insane, for an RC car, distance of 10 km.

I don't think that's going to happen, but don't take my opinion on it. Email Castle's customer service and ask them. They will be able to tell you for sure. They are typically quick to respond.

Do you have a fan on the ESC ?

I added a ESC-fan on my sidewinder 3 (4600KV motor) when I started using 3S (gearing 19t pinion - 86t spur) for longer rides with higher speed.

2S geared around 23/76 would be better with that motor. Get the 9200mah 2S from smc

Well yeah, i got and fan for the motor too.
So maybe i could try with 15/16 - 86t spur?
