    How to program my motor

Hey guys this is completely non related to rc but I was hoping if someone could help me out

I need to make a circuit that when you hit a button, runs a motor in one direction for a few seconds until it Has completed its action and automatically shuts off and then when the button is hit again it would then go in the opposite direction for the same amount of time

Any ideas on how to run a motor for a few seconds? Without having to manually shut it off?

Also how can I get it to switch between forward and reverse?

Lego Technic controllers will do this, it all depends on the size of the motor and speed you want it to go.

It's for a cabinet I'm building and the motor will use pulleys etc and stuff so I'd prefer not to use Lego

ever thought about using a garage door set up. you can probably look up garage doors and build one similar and cheaper.
there's also retractable TV's, blinds and awnings. there is a lot of research you can do to duplicate what you need.
