It is a wrap and I only wish I could paint that good. The wrap comes from a company called Dark Side Studios, the guy is a one man business and advertises his product on Ebay under Traxxas Spartan parts. Glad you guys liked it and yest Doug, it really runs great. Best time so far was 67.1mph.

Hdurrer, was it difficult to wrap your boat? And do you have to sand anything? You'll have to excuse the dumb question, But I am not a painter or a graphic artist lol, always wanted to try wrapping, but didn't want to spend money and have it come out bad and throw it out lol

No problem with your questions, you simply need to make sure the parts that you are going to cover with the wrap is very clean, I cleaned the areas with alcohol before applying the wrap. Mix a water and dish washer soap 50 X50 and spray the area you are applying the wrap to so that you can slid the wrap around and begin. No sanding is required. Takes a long time though, not as easy as it sounds.

No I purchased a replacement hull and cowl from Traxxas along with the engine tray and built the boat from scratch. No painting if you do the wrap correctly.

Well you didn't really have to do that. If the design and color of the wrap you ordered matches the hull color you might have been ok. I think you ordering the base white hull and cowl gives you more options on the final outcome of what you want your boat to look like. If I may, I think you should always start with the top of the boat and work your way to the sides when applying the wrap. Make sure you give yourself time to work with the wrap by using a moderate amount of soap/water. Don't worry about to many air bubbles, most if not all will work their way out. Also, make sure you have a heat gun set on the lowest temp to unsure you don't melt or distort the wrap. A heat gun in most cases is to hot. I used my wife's hair dryer set on high and it worked perfect. Hope to see some pictures when you get done. Good luck.

Ok thanks for all the tips! I will use a hair dryer, now when u say soap and water, I can use dish soap and u are wetting the hull and applying the decals over the wet hull? Then after installed , using the hair dryer to get most bubbles out anyd to dry up the soap/water mix, I'm assuming? And def will post pics when completed

about 3 hours. Take your time and I recommend you start with the top of the hull, then do the cowl and then the sides. Do the transom last. If you spray enough of the water//soap mixture on the surface you are covering you should have plenty of time to move and adjust the wrap. Good luck.

    Thumbs up

@hdurrer, sorry haven't gotten back to you, I have not done it yet, going to do it hopefully this Saturday. I work at a car dealer, so I'm going to do it in the body shop paint booth... I will definitely post pics when I am finished. Just been pretty busy , but I'm super excited to see the results... I have a pile of new parts jus waiting to be installed and soldered and wired in... but rest assured this forum will be loaded with pics in the gallery and on this thread, well just the wrap pics on this thread.. stay tuned... and just for experience sake, I am a technician, not a body man lol.. hoping it comes out as good as yours did

If anyone is interested in the pictured spartan, I will be willing to sell it. I would like to hear from you guys where the best place or best way to sell my spartan and the other one I have which is slightly modified on the transom.

Just read this entire thread in anticipation of seeing Rcforever's wrap job. Boo.. Where are those pics?

@hdurrer - Your wrap looks great. As far as selling, I would start in the market place and then move on to Ebay and Craigslist. Your local hobby store might sell it for you. I'm sure they would take a small fee. I'm kinda getting the Spartan bug but I think I'll wait until warmer weather. Unless you make me a deal I can't refuse.
If you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with!!!

The boat only has 6 runs on it. The best speed I have reached is 71.1. It comes as you see it with all the upgrades plus 4 5000Mah 35C lipos which also only have 6 runs on them. I'm asking $1000. This is a very good deal. The boat has the Leopard motor, SeaKing 180 amp ESC, all the RC Boat Bits parts, 442 & 443 CNC props, 5" double cooled rudder.

If you wish to sell, put it in the appropriate forum.
