I just went through the same scenario. Not sure why Traxxas refuses to back up their pricing for at least 30 days like every other reputable retailer in the U.S.? I get fair profit but I don't get lack of integrity in pricing. The biggest farce is the "deal" they're offering current Traxxas owners with $695 worth of parts for only $299.....this is pure smoke and mirrors. With this logic they will be losing a lot of money on each new Xmaxx sold at $899, Apparently you can buy everything above and beyond the upgrade kit to build the "new" Xmaxx for only $204? Doubt it.....Maybe they're talking pesos vs dollars? The upgrade kit doesn't even include the correct motor for the bigger batteries and are they also upgrading the tires for the new power?

I kept this post without any abbreviated "profanity" as my previous posts were deleted,

Different companies have different policies regarding sales. Your continued complaining would be understandable if you were promised something different, but you weren't. Yet you want to apply one company's policy to another company. It makes no difference how many or which other entities run their businesses. This is not and never was the Traxxas policy AFAIK.
You are complaining about not getting what you did not pay for and have no right to expect because that's truly your issue here. Simply put, you're just bashing Traxxas because you're not getting stuff for free. If you don't like the offer from Traxxas, you can just go buy your next RC from a place that has "integrity" in their pricing... like Wal*Mart.

Can you buy the upgrade kit without esc? I would love to get this but I don't feel I need the 8s power. If I want a truck to do 50 I'll bust out my other rcs

Someone here posted they called Traxxas about that and the parts will be sold individually when the truck hits the shelves.

Yes, seeing how the RC world has been over the years, you'd notice that the ebay sellers/chop shops will have all these parts for sale separately. Just give it some time.

I doubt you'll see any centre diffs for 'sensible money' - my bet is on getting it from Tower in 6 months' time - with the bulkhead and suitable bearings.

I don't know if someone asked before, but did Traxxas include the possibility to add the magnet and the RPM sensor on this new release???
Traxxas doesn't offer the RPM telemetry setup in their new kit for the V1 Xmaxx, but that doesn't mean it's not very doable.

Nevermind we are using a couple of the bearings in there. Does it look like there is an upgraded servo coming in the new truck? The new front-end indicates with an X at the end of the servo part number

The driveshafts are the same diameter (5mm IIRC), but the pins have increased in diameter at both ends:

stub axle/drive shaft pins increased from 3.0mm to 3.5mm
drive cup/drive shaft pins increased from 3.5mm to 4.0mm

Below are the ring and pinion comparison photos. You can see the larger tooth size on the 8s-spec ring and pinion gears. They are substantially stronger than the 6s-spec gears.

I'm experiencing some binding between the input gear and the center diff. I have the 6S and 8S setups side-by-side. The stock/6S setup with the stock bulkhead/slipper/output gear spin nice and smooth while the new/8S setup with new bulkhead/cush drive/center diff spins really rough/tight. If I loosen the gear cover a fair amount things free up, but I'm wondering if the bulkhead parts might be a little out of spec.

    Anyone else having this problem?

How is the mesh between your input gear and center diff? Mine is pretty tight and causing some binding.

It looked like some type of lithium type grease in the center diff ? Also looks pretty thick ? Would you compare it to 100k or 500k traxxas diff fluid ?

    Thanks.

Great pictures! Looks like you can use the telemetry RPM magnet in the 54T gear. Did the kit also come with a place for the RPM pickup? From what I seen in the photo of the chassis it doesn't look like it, but Traxxas could make a gear cover down the road that could handle it.

Can hardly believe it, but I sold my X-Maxx! I had already swapped the ESC to a Max6 back in February, so I would have had to buy another VXL-6S in order to really take advantage of the upgrade kit with receiving the core charge back. Doing the math, it wouldn't be that much more expensive for me to just purchase the V2 X-Maxx. Another big factor was I spend most of my time tinkering and flying my quadcopter, so I haven't been doing much with my ground vehicles lately. Nonetheless, the X-Maxx will be missed! Who knows, I might just get another one when the V2 arrives.

According to Traxxas it's 2 million weight oil in the center diff. Sounds about right.
