Rally Body on Slash 4x4 HCG chassis

    Hi everyone.

I am doing some upgrade to my Slash 4x4 1/10 ... will post in my upgrade thread later... and noticing the stock body is getting pretty bashed.

I love the size of the Slash stock body, but an even bigger one would be nice. I like the Traxxas Rally body a lot!

Anyone know if the Traxxas Rally body will fit the Slash 4x4 HCG chassis with little/no modifications, ie change out body posts?

    Thanks!

Ok, just found the Pro Line Ford Focus Rally Body (Pro - Line 2012 Ford Focus ST Clear Body) and it looks awesome, says it will fit the Slash 4x4 1/10.

I know the pro line extended body mounts are needed - no problem.

    Questions:

    1. Any other mods needed?
    2. Will the stock Slash bumpers (front and rear) fit INSIDE the body?
    3. What else am I missing?

    Thanks!

I would get rally bumpers. You want the lexan to be supported and not scratch off

Jet, reposting my PM to you so others can be helped.

The body that I have in the picture is the same proline that you posted.
The proline body will fit directly on a stock rally. In order to get the body on a slash you'll need the stock rally post. The rear post are really high and the front post are built into the front bumper. You can't just use low front slash mount because the rally hood is almost touching the front shock tower leaving no room for post. The wheels will be fine and are the same as a slash, just different tread pattern mostly. Rear bumper is same as a stampede 4x4 and is needed because slash rear bumper won't fit under the body and also holds the suspension pins from falling out.
Look at the rally exploded view and you'll see what I mean.
You kind of have to go all the way for it to work right. Except for the wheels.

    Certainly appreciate all the replies!!

Through my research I've come across this link. A driver did the Traxxas Rally Body on the Slash 4X4 and came out with similar results. For it you'll need the following as stated above - thanks!
    - Traxxas Rally Rear Bumper
    - Traxxas Rally Rear Body Mount posts
    - Traxxas Rally Front Bumper (body mount posted integrated)
    - Traxxas Rally Body
    - Rally tires and all else are optional. The above is required.

For those who come across this thread later on, this information will also help if you do this project:

After some reading, however, I've decided to stick with all Slash 4x4 parts, but I am looking for a direct replacement and larger than stock body for the Slash 4x4. Thinking hard about the Daka body - which I think will just need Pro Line Extended mounts.

Dare I go with a clear body and attempt my second RC model paint job....!??!?!?!?

    Thanks everyone!

Thanks! Durable sounds good! I have it ordered but it's on backordered. I'm looking at some color schemes now.

    Cheers

    Got body and paint in!

Definitely not a direct fit. Will work with pro line extended body mounts, and need to drill four new holes for posts for sure. The predrilled holes can be vents for cooling haha.

Let's first see how the painting goes...

Any updates on this? That body looks really nice and would love to see the finished product.

Still trying to find direction for my 4WD Slash that is sitting on the shelf. I thought about doing a buggy conversion, but have lost the enthusiasm for the project. Now I am thinking rally. So, the arms on the Slash are the same as the rally?

If you go rally, Delta Plastik has some 325mm Rally bodies you should look at:

I know you know how wide these bodies need to be to have a proper fit. Could you please share with the class?

Delta Plastik's rally bodies linked say they have a 325mm wheel base and are 310mm wide.

    Our Slashes are:

Just need slightly offset wheels or hub extensions and we should be golden!

Plus they are thicker at 1.5mm-2mm. If you want thicker they can make it I don't remember how much more thicker they can go. But my 1.5mm jag body is pretty thick and has taken a lot of fast hard crashes and all it's got is a small split in front bumper

Many thanks for the info, I might still do this conversion, but my enthusiasm has fallen off on this project.

The local crawler club has started rally racing, so I started to get excited about converting my Sl4sh over, but they are only allowing smaller "scale" rally cars like what Tamiya has to offer... I have bought three new RCs this year, and really not excited enough about rally racing to buy a forth (TRX4, King Hauler & flatbed trailer, TF2 kit).
