"General Lee" ~ the DubiousMaximus Build

Happy New Year, folks. I've lurked the forums almost a year, since after picking up a sl4sh for bashing, my first RC since late 80's. Yeah, I'm old, nearing mid forties now. Anyway...

So while watching all these cool roller builds thought, "oh what the heck, me too!", but didn't want just another off road truck, rally type maybe? Then it hit me...the General...so I found inspiration.

The base of the roller is almost from scratch since it was a platinum edition who's hop-ups are now my bashers' hand-me-downs.

    Electronics
    Spektrum DX6R w/6ch RX w/telemetry
    Tekin RX8 Esc w/Pro4 HD 2D 3000
    Specktrum HV High-Torch Servo (waterproof)
    2s Gen Ace 50c 5k batteries
    3s Traxxas 25c 5k batteries

    Roller
Stock LCG Chassis - dyed myself
STRC motor mount & heatsink plate
    STRC RX Mounting plate
    RPM Front Bulkhead
    Integy Steering Assembly
    Integy Front/Rear Gearbox
    Gmade P-system Shocks (85mm & 93mm)
Tekno Big Bone center drive shafts
    GPM Differential Carriers
    MIPS w/17mm adapters
    Boom Racing c-hub & carriers
    ABEC 3 Bearings, yellow

I also plan to use a hydrophobic compound on the fans, esc and motor to make them all waterproof.

Still waiting on more parts to show and won't be till FEB when I get the esc/motor. So far this is where I'm at, waiting on diff carriers from gpm.

    Pic for the eyes

I've still not made up my mind on which differential fluids to use. Thinner 40k & 50k to enhance the posi drive, or thicker 100k-500k for 4x4 action?

If its' worth doing...its' worth over-doing!

Sub'd! Gotta love the general!! Curious to see how you're gonna do the body. Is it gonna sit high or low?

Great question, one I've been asking myself a while now. I'm definitely keeping my eye open for a challenger body. These are current bodies I'm eyeballing from delta plastik...

This one to be more speed, is listed as a rally body...I love it.

    Or Chevy?

I do hope eventually this roller will find its' way to the local track. Not sure if the motor is allowed yet or if the track allows the newer ROAR rules for HV lipos.

As for clearance, I'm wanting to keep it off-road abilities and still function well on paved surfaces too. For that reason I've not listed what bumpers or if I'll go with XO-1 splitters & body mount. I already have the rpm front/rear bumber on my basher, love the front skid.

If its' worth doing...its' worth over-doing!

Hmmmmm interesting. My slash is transforming soon into a monster buggy. Might try and see if I can trim a bajr body from jconcepts for a general Lee paintin. Time will tell! Excited to see what you're gonna do! So many options!

Love the body, thanks for the link. Not sure it's wide enough for my taste though

I would go with the top body if it fits good that would look amazing!

I really like the Avus body too. Will probably require an email to them and see if they'll make one or two, as they show up as out of stock. I think I will go with an XO-1 front and rear body mounts so the tires sit in the wheel wells like the inspiration pic ('',)

It's a 1980 proline body for the emaxx, I sent it to JC Custom rc bodies and had it painted. Also have a 72 Chevy body for my stampede that's painted the exact way.

I'm jealous ('',) I'm actually picking up an airbrush as my collection keeps growing and plan to have at least one track roller for now. Here in Sacramento there is an out-door on-road track and an in-door off-road track.

Go figure, California is backwards like that lol
