Looks impressive. We will have to see if it actually gets released and how parts support will be. 21T motor, looks like lockable diffs, 2 speed tranny too.

I'm quite shocked they also included portal axles in the prototype. The scaler scene is pretty big and lots of people (like myself) spend a ton of money on our rigs. It's a HUGE market that Axial, RC4WD, and a little bit of Vaterra mostly dominated.

Edit: RR-17 license plate... possible model number for this chassis?

ha what! Didn't see that coming, This is going to be a big year for traxxas. I wouldn't have thought that they would have done a land rover style?

I love it, its awesome. Really hope that traxxas has plans to release a scale truck. No teasing us traxxas please. Problem is I've maxed out my rc truck buget buying a summit and another rc in the past while. I've been thinking about looking into a scale truck for my next rc possibility. So this would be great, I love my traxxas stuff.

I'll wait for the official release from Traxxas before I believe it. IF it is indeed true, they seem to be turning RC towards scale looks on multiple chassis: 2017 Raptor, Bigfoot, Fiesta ST Rally (though they had the 1/16 Ken Block years ago), GT and possibly this.

I want this so bad. I enjoy my other brand scaler, so this will replace that! Hopefully we won't have to wait long!

I'm skeptical too. But you have reminded me of the new raptor, that has a similar grill to this truck. I think the body post look like something traxxas would do too.

Notwithstanding the LED lights on the Summit and the optional LED light buckets for the roof of the Summit and the bumper of the Stampede 4x4?

    New Traxxas Scale Truck

Skeptical about this, but I can hope that it's not a toy build, but real scale,
Leds like rigid would be great, I don't think it can be that level.

The 21 emaxx motor should have more topend than other scalers while still having the torque needed

Hopefully the production model is the same as pictured. If so, those are portal axles, and would not be that great on a monster. But, it is absolutely a step in the right direction, and might signal a solid axle monster on the horizon.

I think the portal axles will be the big selling point because they give it more ground clearance, that and I don't think anyone else does it. Now someone should come out with a 1962 Mercedes Benz Unimog body since they have portal axles and will go over anything you put in front of them!

G Made has portals on the R1 crawler, they work quite well for crawling and clearance.

I tried the R1 as a chassis for a monster, the portals just don't work well for speed

Man I love the portal axles but if they make as well just straight live axle that would be an awesome start for solid rear slash 4x4's without spending the $400 for the mod lol.

Great job Traxxas ! Took a little bit of time doing it, but DANG ! You did it right lol.

If it's worth sharing, I talked to a gentlman at Traxxas and he confired that's it's real, and everyone is super excited for it come out; which he said is expected to be sometime in spring before summer.

Yes they have, while I've never really owned a scaler/crawler or been into the on road scene, this and the new 4tec has started to gain my attention.

Finally a Traxxas vehicle that I really wants!

Body is a downer for me, but the portal axle's, front offset diff and the front mounting motor is big selling point for me.

Put on a more realistic body, scale interior and stuff a V8 under the hood, and we got the perfect vehicle, for me anyway....

Love my other scale 4x4 rigs from the other brands, about time Traxxas enter this segment, late, but better late than never

What's the wheelbase? I am not really looking to but a crawler, but if that Defender body fits on my Slash that would be pretty sweet, at least for the first couple jumps.

It's got a licensed body, full lighting kit, and it is an entirely new platform that needed to be engineered from square one. Everything on this is new and the 4 servos are indicative that there will be a lot of moving parts. The R&D bill for this vehicle must have been huge.

Honestly I'd say closer to $500. An Axial SCX10 II goes for $409.99 on tower as RTR. Plus as it was said it has a licensed body, lighting, portals (if its released with them).

Same thing i was thinking: the remote locking diffs & 2 speed tranny. Look how much a summit costs. I know its more on a 1/10 scale size so somewhat less.

Sadly, I am a little less excited seeing how big this truck is. Still cool, but Traxxas might be missing the market with this one. A lot of us who are heaving into scalers and crawlers (this is a scaler, not a crawler), compete with them, would want this to go toe-to-toe with what is already on the market. This truck will be too big for Class 1, unwieldy for Class 2, and would not be competitive in Class 3. If it is going to compete with the SCX10 and Ascenders for market share, it needs to be able to compete with them on the trail, at competitions. Who knows, this might spark a class of its own.
