    Telemetry with the TQi 6507R & 6533 Rx

    Sorry I know this has been covered in other threads, but I'm trying to wrap my head around the telemetry options available and find the right part numbers for this specific 6507R Radio / 6533 Rx combo and specifically for the 5608 Brushless MMM2/2200kv E-Revo.

    On the receiver;
    There's a Volt / Temp 3 pin - What part number works here? 6521?

    There's an RPM 3 pin - What parts are are required for this? Looks like a spur magnet & sensor? Assume the pinion size is programmed into the app to calculate motor RPM.

    There's a 4 pin - Can the GPS module 6551 plug into this slot? Looks like 6550 expander is required, but would be really cool if it could just plug into the newer model Rx.

    Thanks in advance. I really just want to record GPS speed, but would also be good to watch for voltage drops and motor temp. I'm currently using a Forerunner 101 and it's a bit dated, lol

    OK, after some research and reading; Here's what I've come up with...

    There's Standard Telemetry or Expanded Telemetry and it's a one OR the other type of thing. Not both.

    There are standard sensors that plug directly into the 6533 or 6518 Rx;

    Then there's Expanded Telemetry using the Telemetry Expander, which houses the GPS module and auto detectable sensors;

    6556 Expander mount that sits on top of the 5632 Chassis Brace;

    Expanded Auto Detectable Sensors: (plug into the Telemetry Expander)

    Standard or Auto sensors both require the spur magnet, temp sensor mount and voltage tap;

    6535
    https://traxxas.com/products/parts/telemetry/6535

    6541
    https://traxxas.com/products/parts/telemetry/6541

    All of the above require the 6511 Traxxas Link Wirelss Module;

    And the Traxxas app for smartphones...

    I'll add some install pics once all the parts arrive. It would be nice if it were all packaged in a kit, but alas, here we are with a scattered parts list. lol

    Yep. That's helpful. I've already got the Bluetooth module and the chassis brace so it's expanded telemetry for me. Seems like it saves on fitting magnets and relying on the spur gear spinning. Thanks for doing some digging.

    Thank you for providing some clarification on telemetry. I do wish Traxxas would clarify what is included in the box regarding telemetry and provide a "matrix / calculator" that identifies all telemetry options available that you would click the option(s) you want that would that would turn around and provide part numbers of what is required to meet it. If someone wants 2 temperature sensors, one voltage sensor and GPS speed but not an RPM Sensor a list is generated of the parts needed including if required the TQi Telemetry expander, rear chassis brace or mounting hardware. This would help "noobs" like me that are brand new to the hobby. I had to no clue what I needed for telemetry and ended up ordering a lot of parts that I just don't need or were already included with the stock vehicle, so a matrix / calculator would have helped immensely.

    I have always had issues with telemetry sensors with not receiving any data from the sensor to the Traxxas Link App. I have a GPS speed module plugged into the Telemetry TQi expander as well as the RPM Sensor plugged into the stock receiver but have never been able to get the RPM Sensor to actually provide any data to the Traxxas Link app. I'm not looking for it to identify speed just RPM. I know in the menu Options -> Preferences at the bottom is the "Speed Source Priority" Option of RPM or GPS, even when selecting RPM it still does not generate any information. Does the RPM Sensor need to be plugged into the original (part# 6533) RPM Receiver slot or does it need to get plugged into the TQi Telemetry Expander module (Part# 6550)? If it is supposed to be plugged into the expander is there an adapter the makes it into a 4 prong plug vs the 3 prong plug? I remember reading something about once the TQi Telemetry expander is used any sensor in the original receiver will no longer work / send data. Is there any validity to that or should the sensors in the stock receiver work regardless if there is a TQi Telemetry Expander added?

    I really need some assistance on getting or identifying troubleshooting methods to identify why and how to get the below non-working sensors up and running. The below table was generated using the information in the Traxxas Link App under the menu Garage -> Telemetry Setup. I've identified whether or not I receive data from the sensor or not and any additional comments. If this classifies as hijacking your thread I will gladly start a new thread but given your extensive input on telemetry I figure diagnosing and discussing troubleshooting techniques for non-working sensors would be of great benefit to the community especially a noob like me

    Sensor Name Source Type Working Comment
    Speed Receiver / GPS Speed Yes No issues with GPS Speed sensor!
    Tachometer Receiver RPM No Plugged into 6533 original receiver RPM slot and am puzzled as why will not register or send any data to the app.
    Temperature Receiver Temp No I'm not sure if this is an internal ESC Temperature gauge or where this data is generated from but if no other hardware is required it would be nice to get this sensor working.
    Voltage Receiver Volts No Same issue as the receiver temperature gauge, I would guess this is associated with the ESC but if no additional hardware is required it would be nice to know what / where this is generating data from and get it working.
    Voltage Telemetry Expander Slot A2 Volts Yes Part# 6527 that for the most part works and sends data, however there are times where it does not send any information. A restart of the receiver and transmitter will normally solve the issue.
    Temperature 2 Telemetry Expander Slot A3 Temp Yes Part #6526 that actually works with issues few and far in-between!
    Temperature 3 Telemetry Expander Slot A4 Temp No Part # 6526 that does not work and because Slot Temp Slot A3 works I am puzzled as to why Temp Slot A4 does not send data.

    Happy to help when I can, I'll see what I find out once my parts arrive and I get it installed. Maybe some one else on here has some advice in the mean time?

    Parts arrived! Wonder if I can make the Rx voltage sensor pick up the BEC voltage. Time to get to work.

    I just finished this install too. Where are you hiding all the extra cables going from your battery cable and temp cable around the motor? Trying to make it look clean.

    Still working on cleaning things up. I have some cable harness sheaths I'm experimenting with. Will post pics once it's all done.

    Here's a start before adding sheathing. Also still waiting on three more sensors. Going to try to monitor L & R lipo temps, Motor temp, BEC voltage and main voltage.

    There's a lot of wires. It's busy looking.

    Quick note on the 6520 (RPM Sensor) that plugs into the Rx. There is a long (6520) and short version (6522).
    The short version fits, but it's tight. The long version leaves more room to route the wire.
