    V2 X-MAXX 18/50 gearing running 8S

I have the version 2 X-MAXX running two 6700 4s Lipos from Traxxas. I have the Hobbywing Max 6. I wanted to use gearing that came with the truck to get 50mph the 18/46 but I want to use it off road with out over heating issues at all. So I was thinking maybe if I ran 18/50 maybe I can hit 45mph which seems plenty fast anybody running this setup with any issues what so ever.

today my gps said I went 37mph on 8s with stock v2 x-maxx gearing. generic 25c 4s lipos. so 18/54

was on dirt road. I don't own any 8s batteries yet, they still in the mail, once I get some I will for sure, test them for a few cycle, and test my new tires and wheels on the stock gearing before changing the gearing.

edit: my friend on 6s gearing different was considerably faster... I forgot what he said he was geared. 24/50 or something.... I'm posting video of us racing and he smokes me on 6s.

Ok cool thanks. Yea I really would like people’s opinion on this about the different gearing being used. I think 45 for this truck would be perfect I just don't want to take a chance on it overheating I finally found a rc truck that is dependable that I can have fun with so while I do want more speed I don't want to over gear it to run into a lot of issues so any help would be appreciated.

Also are you on Youtube or where can I see that video.

Can you run 18/50 gearing with stock electronics with no issues?

    50/18 hot days
    50/20 warm days
    50/22 cool days

You should not have any heat issues with that formula. 18 tooth pinion will get you just under 40 and the 22 will get you around 50 mph

Good info, definitely depends on current weather, how and where you run.

I'm running Max6, stock 8s motor, swapped to 50T spur (running stock 18T pinion), 46T breaks too easily due to lack of metal around outer part of the gear, machined steel, not sintered probably fine. My esc and motor can get quite warm on our hot summer days, but never thermalled yet, knock on wood.
