Is it possible to put the TSM in a slash without it?

I have a Slash 4x4 without TSM. I was thinking I would maybe like that on my slash as I want to do some water skipping. Can you guys tell me how I would do this? Thanks!

I put it in mine. First you need a TQI controller. Then you will need a new receiver. #6533
It will then be controlled by the multi-function knob.

Very much so. Just get the TX/RX and you are set.

I have a 2 channel TQI right now, it has the red sticker. Does that mean I only need #6533?

No, you need the Blue TQi Tx to work with the 6533 Rx (it has the Multi-Function knob).

If your truck didn't come with tsm you'll need to install the firmware
for it to the 6533 receiver. If you don't have bluetooth a local hobby
store may do it for you. You're present transmitter doesn't have it.

Edit: If you don't update the firmware it may not work right.

Don't forget the servo. You need the 2075 digital steering servo if you don't already have it.

Ok say as other have stated:
    1) You must have the TQI radio WITH the multi-function knob.

    2) You need the #6533 receiver. It has the little TSM logo. You will have to open the black receiver box and replace your current one with the #6533 (note how the plugs are installed).

    3) Bind the radio and receiver together (Press and hold the transmitter's SET button as you turn it on. Press and hold the receiver's LINK button as you power up your model, then wait for the transmitter's and receiver's status LEDs to turn solid green—which only takes a second or two)

    4) Update the #6533 firmware to insure proper operation. This will be done through the Traxxas app. The app should automatically detect that there needs to be a firmware update. There are a few ways to do it:
4a) If your TQI radio has the blue wifi symbol in the TQI logo AND has the Bluetooth module installed. Using your bluetooth device.
4b) If you have a TQI radio with the docking base installed. It will work using the 30 pin to lightning adapter. Using your iphone/ipod.
4c) Bring it to a hobby shop or a friends house that has either of the above, bind their radio to your 6533 receiver, do the firmware update then re-bind your radio.

I hope this clears up your options.

I'm glad you get it now.
If you just upgrade to the 6533, TSM will still work BUT without the firmware update, there may be issues or problems that are resolved with the update.

Before you invest your time and money on your system, PM El Sob and ask him about his experiences with the red TQi Tx...

He has had bad experiences (loss of signal) with the several red TQi controllers.
Hopefully he'll see this and chime in to explain his problems to you.

I don't recommend that anyone get the TQi with the red " I " after I had five of them fail I am done with them! I have had great success with the TQi transmitter with Bluetooth! The Bluetooth TQi and the TSM receiver is all of the equipment you need. As fellow forum members have stated when you connect to the Traxxas app it will update the software for you. I have done it many times now
