    Cool 3S Lipo XL-5?!?!

Guys, so they just released the new details for the TRX-4... https://traxxas.com/news/new-product/trx-4

That thing is AMAZING. It has everything, 45 steering angle, metal geared 2075X servo (finally..), and a 3S Lipo XL-5 ESC.

I know they're going with a Titan 21T motor in this rig, but 3s might make all of their brushed vehicles, say, capable of some pretty rad stuff.

Totally agree. Very impressive. Really wish I could get it in a kit. Would love to build one from ground up

I wonder what the turn limit will be on that ESC under 3S?

    A 12T 550 motor is the equivalent of a 19T 540 motor. The TRX-4 has a 21T 550 motor, which is around a 30- 35T, so I am betting, under 3S, you can't go any lower than a 27T motor.

With that, the lack of an instant reverse and drag break have been the key features that have kept the regular XL-5 from being the drop-in brushed ESC of choice. I can see this ESC being VERY popular on other rigs!

I'll have to try this system out before I throw in a sensored brushless.

The ESC hasn't been released yet, but you should be able to run it on 2S.

That's my plan. I want to see just how the stock power is, and how well it seems to hold up first. In my telluride the 21t Titan on 3 and 4s was actually great. I geared it low enough to crawl well and it would run fast enough to pop a wheelie and do a donut and jump a bit. It was a lot of fun but I went through several in short order with muddy water play. The brushes don't care for it!
