Nimh batteries will explode and leave soot everywhere just like this one did.

That's why I charge my batteries in a small charcoal grill. Helps keep things contained just in case. Good to see no major loss.

Wow crazy. This is why you always keep a close eye on your batteries as they are charging. Good thing you were close by. I've personally never had a issue charging a battery with explosions.

You're lucky there. Batteries don't just randomly explode. Something had to be wrong.

Did both the charger and battery explode?

The chargers is acting Strange but it did not explode. yes the brand new rug is ruined. Traxxas said they can not do anything for my because it's not a Traxxas product so it essentially the charger voided the battery but they still sent a new one for a "one time thing" .

If the charger is acting up I would definitely replace it. If the charger caused this you don't want it to happen again

I use the venom duo. I charge all mine with it except the Xmaxx. I even bought the adapters to charge my alias batteries. I'm thinking of upgrading to the quad one day

Traxxas did you a favor by replacing the battery especially if your non-Traxxas charger is what killed it.

If you're looking at the Venom Duo also check out the Hitec X2. It's the same price, but if offers higher charging rates.

Traxxas' warranty policies are a big part of what make it such a great company, especially for a beginner, when I got my p2de I went through a motor in under a week, my dad called traxxas and a few days later a new motor showed up in the mail, no questions asked and completely free.

yeah I am lucky that traxxas did not just say sorry you do not have a traxxas charger we can not help you. and thanks the charger feedback guys I will take a look. can't decide if I should go all out with a 4x or go with a 2x.

I say go all out and go 4. Better to have more than enough than not enough. I'm kicking myself for not going with a 4 from the beginning. That's just my opinion. Your budget has the biggest say
