Question on NiMH pack Temperatures During Discharge

I have a Traxxas Stampede with the standard 3000mAh NiMH pack. I recently had to change the OEM pack out as it had vented and distorted one of the cells. I bought a new OEM pack and started monitoring pack temps during charge and discharge and noticed that the new pack gets hot during discharge when running the truck hard in high ambient temp conditions. What is normal for these packs when running hard and does high temps during discharge damage them?

    Thanks!

Of course it will get hot. What happens when you exercise hard? Cut back the hard running and/or change up your gearing. The ESC is trying to pull more power than the battery is able to provide. Are you running the brushed or brushless system?

    Brushed, stock gearing.
