    Cool New shocks for rustler????

My ultra shocks have started to leak and I have popped the caps off too many times. I don't want to spend the money getting the aluminium caps as it would be better getting new shocks.
I was thinking along the Traxxas gtr, are they better than the big bores?
I was after threaded bodies for easy adjustment
I would want something a bit bigger and heavier than the Traxxas big bores
    something around the gtr size.
And something that can take a good beating

Do you guys have any recommendations?

I was thinking about the proline power strokes, but they are way out of my budget. How do they compare to the Traxxas shocks? if they are much better, I will probably get those.
I have found the gtr's much cheaper than the big bores, so should I
    get those?

    Thanks for the help guys!

GTR's are nice....for my Rustler I bought all new parts using STRC Threaded aluminum shock bodies and Traxxas coated shock shafts and piston/seal kits.

Get long for the front and xl for the rear. If you look on tower they give lengths.

I run GTR's on front and rear. Just as stated above and countless people use.

Yes, if you order slash 4x4 GTR shocks the only way I know to make them fit is to swap out the ball pins and get a screw with no collar for the all four upper mount. I heard of other people grinding down there a arm to make it fit, that's something I did not want to do. In my opinion the GTR shocks are worth it for the money it's not hard to press that pin out and put the other one in there, and for the screw there's a part number on there for traxxas screw or .you can just go to the hardware store and try to find something that'll work. I think you will be very happy with GTR shocks and save the money and buy other upgrades for your Rustler.

Dude that's changing a couple 50 cent parts. But yes you do need to swap lower mount balls out. Either that or modify the arms with a dremel

GTR springs are pretty bad IMO, and wear out super fast. If you get better springs, you should be fine.

Atomik Rc makes really cheap high quality shocks for the rustler. They are 14.00-18.00 dollars for 2 shocks.

I'm surprised to hear this. I've never heard anything but positive feedback from them. But since you're a racer, I could see how you'd know. I've been nothing but thrilled with mine, however it's not a track car, way too heavy

Which springs are you running and are your arms level? With the blue GTR's up front, they would wear out in about 3-6 months and become overly compressed and shorten in length by about a half inch. This happened with 3 sets. I'm curious if this happened with yours? Rears were not as bad, but TEN-SCTE front springs fit nicely in the rear, so I switched to those pretty quick.

In the end, going to rear GTR shocks and TEN-SCTE front springs all the way around worked out really well.

I assume you know lots about springs, what are some of the basic things i should know about, like thickness and ect

    Thanks

Just get springs that fit your shocks (length and diameter) and get a few of them so that you can try different combinations. They come in different rates (stiffness).
