Seeing as how the good folks at Traxxas were kind enough to put a hitch receiver on the back bump, it would be rude of us not to use it.
I have two trailers, a custom built car carrier that needs some work, and my trail trailer.
I have been doing some work on my trail trailer, adding in lights and some details. I used bezels out of an Axial light kit for the lights. Originally I used a 4-cell AAA pack for power, but have changed that up for a AA 4-cell pack.
The toolbox houses the battery pack and switch, the silver thing is a fake trap pack, the red pack is a functional 1/10 scale dome tent. The toolbox is from home depot. I am looking for more things to add to it to make it more scale looking.

Nice work!
I'm going waiting for a lot of things to build my trailer of. Pictures come as I get started.
What kind of hook do you use?
And super good idea for a thread c")
Should we not also see that tent set up??
Then came the bottom of my project trailer

It's really really nice ... May I ask where you've found it?
Got it off Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Giga-Tent-Min...=toy+dome+tent
The only thing I don't like about it are the poles for the tent don't break down far enough, but looks at ways to get them shorter.

I agree. Great work guys on those sweet Trail Trailers!
Thanks for sharing.
Now, I probably have to make a trailer....
Thanks c")Originally Posted by Greatscott;6416327[url

Here is something a buddy of mine is doing, 11" long with 1.9s on it. Supposed to do some crazy articulation hitch for it.

That is cool!!!
I have thought about modifying that little trailer I have more articulation, the ball joint is ok, but REALLY lacks the articulation needed.

Here is a home made trailer I bought for around $35, it wasn't terrible, but greatly lacking in refinement.

I started working on this last year, and got it to a point of completion I was ok with at the time, but knew I wanted to take it further. I started out by adding the wheel wells and tool box. With a 3D printer and no design skills yet, I pulled these designs off of Thingiverse and scaled them to my needs, but fitment was still an issue.
Once I got some feeble skills in Fusion, I designed the ramps and jack. The end product wasn't bad, but still had things I wasn't satisfied with...

Now it is a year later, I have better skills and tools for designing parts, and have ripped this guy back down to the frame. One of the things I want changed are the axles. They were functional, somewhat, but they squeaked really bad, and the wheels just looked kind of funny when they rolled. The suspension was just one leaf spring flipped over, and a 4mm chunk of all-thread connecting the wheels.
Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr
I have designed the axles and hubs, which will be supported by a properly mounted double leaf spring suspension. I am using Slash 2WD from axles on the hubs with bearings all of the way around. The test print has been done, and adjustments made. Its time to throw the whole mess on the printer.

Trailer Hub v9 by Scott O, on Flickr
The wheels are going to be a little wider apart, so I'll have to remake the wheel wells, which isn't a bad thing, the first set worked, but were really thin. I am also going to redesign the tool box.

Great progress after about 15 hours of print time...

I printed the axles at about 50% infill, and the hubs at 100%.

With everything put together the axles look a little beefy, but being plastic, they need to be.

When I was first fitting up the springs they were really wobbly, which made me a little worried, but with the hardware tightened down, the wobble is completely out. With it sitting on its wheels everything looks straight and right, the wheels roll straight and true with little to no scrub. Also, unlike before, they roll very smoothly with no squeaking.

I have the new tool box I designed on the printer now, and is halfway through its 13 hour print. I am a little nervious, there are thunderstorms in the area and my CR10 does not have a UPS or a print-resume feature.
Next I'll design and print the wheel wells and the winch mount. After I fit-check everything I'll rip it all apart, put a fresh coat of paint on the frame, then put it all back together with proper hardware.

Greatscott, out of interest, what make is your trail trailer? And, I believe it attaches with a ball joint, so I assume a "standard" tow hitch ball is no use? Did the trailer come with the hitch for the car? Sorry for all the questions!
I'm very envious of anyone with a 3D printer - seems like its the passport to a whole to of "exciting" additions!

I am not sure who made the trail trailer, but this one is very close:
https://www.amazon.com/INJORA-Traile...1620933&sr=8-5
The hitch is more or less a standard ball rod end that screws into the hitch on the truck. The main problem is articulation between the truck and trailer on the trails, which is solved by not tightening down the jam nut behind the rod end.
No, the trailer did not come with the hitch that attaches to the truck, but there are a good number available. It really depends on if your TRX4 has a receiver bumper, if so, you just need the hitch bar. If not, then you can get a chassis-mounted hitch. Amazon and E-Bay have lots of options available.
Having a 3D printer and the ability to design my own parts has really changed RC for me. It has made my custom builds a lot better, and a lot faster. My feeble Fusion 360 skills not withstanding, if I can imagine a part, I can draw it, and print it.

Looking great, Scott. Loving the leafs. I got one going right now, haul your TRX 4s to your destination....

Wow, some nice looking trailers in here! I remember the days when my (now rather simple appearing) trailer for my Villain was crazy. haha Always great to see the progression of things. (My trailer is made from welded together brake line. Leaf "springs" are flattened brake line bent into curves. Tires were off from an old toy truck I had as a kid.)

So how are these axles and springs holding up????? Have you had a chance to use it yet?
Not tested yet, still building. The last thing I was waiting on was fasteners, everything I had on hand was the wrong size. I got what I needed yesterday, and stripped the whole mess down to the chassis and repainted it last night. The last thing I need is a mount for the winch, I should have that designed and printed today.
Yeah, the plastic axles are a little worrisome, particularly at the hex interface between the axle and hubs. If I do have problems there I will reprint the axles with a 3mm hole right down the axis, and put a long 3mm screw going through there for strength.

Awesome guy's!
very nice trailers.
Well, I think I am done with this thing for now. I might go back and redesign the ramps, but I am satisfied with them for now. I have towed this behind my TRX4 a couple of times, it pulls very smoothly, with no wobbling or screeching like before. I need to put a little bit of a load on it to see how well the axles hold up.

Dude! This is my dream! Did u build the trailer from scratch? Did u modify an existing one? It looks SO-DOPE! I looooove it! I hate the pricing of 1/10 trailers, so any advice and pointers would be RAD! Please and thank you?
My ultimate goal is to tow my Danchee Ridgerock, behind my TRX4 sport.

Many thanks for the comments!!!
This was someone else's home build trailer made out of steel, I bought it off of Craig's for about $40. I don't know who actually built chassis, neither did the guy I bought it from.
Most of the plastic parts and pieces, including the axles, I designed and printed on my 3D printer. The only parts that I did not design are the wheel chocks and brackets, those came off of Thingiverse.

That trailer is about the coolest thing iver ever seen.

Id love to get a 3d printer and print parts i think thatd be awesome. I use airsoft too so a 3d printer would help there too. Its cool cause everything you make is custom. And you can make anything.

Donka!
Yup, I have seen a couple of these, they are very interesting. For me, the coolest thing about it is that he uses Fusion 360, so I am not really paying attention to the build as much as the techniques he is using to build it.
Having a printer and the ability to design my own parts has really changed the dynamic of the hobby for me. It is a great time to jump in, the printers and CAD are getting better and easier to use. It really get a kick out of having an idea for a part in my head, and a few hours later being able to bolt it on my rig. I am looking at getting a second printer, likely a CR6, which has a lot of bells and whistles on it for a great price.

I'm not a fan trailers in general, but this one is a very nice one.
Thanks for sharing !
I like these projects.
I've no real experience with 3D-printers.
I pre-orderderd a CR-6 SE, not sure if it's a good choice (Ender 3V2 ??).
I tried Fusion 360 a few times, but need to take some time to get the knack of it.
Something to keep me busy in autumn/winter.
Harley's video's are great.
I watched a ton of videos on 3D printing before I bought mine, and as much as I could, tried to completely understand the process. Overall it isn't terribly difficult, but there are a couple of nuances of printing you'll have to learn the hard way.
Another channel I highly recommend is 'CNC Kitchen', this channel really helped me understand how your layer orientation in your part effects overall strength.
