Question X-Maxx 8s First Run - is this NormaL??

X-Maxx 8s First Run - is this Normal?

Enjoying the 8s in the redesigned x-maxx 8s - I had an old 6s and sold it last year.

So Iím out running my brand new xmaxx 8s and wow the power! I had 5 runs so far on both 8s and 4s pack configurations. All stock out of box.

    Noticed:
    - throttle stuttering on 8s or 4s
    - Several times it was like the brakes just went on by themselves - laying skids down.

    Is this normal?

    Thanks

That's happening to me some, too. How much did you dial your TSM to? Try recalibrating the transmitter to the ESC. Make sure nothing is in the way of the driveshafts or drive cups.

Could be a traxxas ESC thing. My 6S esc had a lot of stuttering when crawling at low speed but after I went with hobbywing maxx5 it crawls like a boss without stutter.

I upgraded firmware of everything once out of the box. At least it appeared and said no additional firmware updates needed.

Check again and it said I’m on ESC 1.1.4 and latest is 2.0.199. So I upgraded and will see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

Glad to hear - I will check tomorrow with a few runs to see if 2.0.199 ESC update worked for me... stay tuned.

    Anybody else?

Do you need the Traxxas Link module to update the firmware?

Yes he Bluetooth Link module and app is required to do updates.

Just did a bunch of runs this morning with ESC version 2.0.199, Receiver and Trasmitter All updates (ie I checked for updates in the app several times after and no new updates avail) and ALL SEEMS FINE NOW!

I will note again - when I got it out of the box I updated it through the entire process said it was updated and no new ones again, this was last week. So you may want to try several update attempts after a run or two to be sure all are applied.

    Cheers!
