Planning to Pre-order from my LHS this week.
Slash 4x4 XMaxx Ford GT TRX-4 UDR
I never imagined myself entering the brush-less realm, but sign me up. The details through out this beauty won me over within 5 minutes of scrolling thru pictures, and reading the specs.
I can not wait...

Anyone else pre paid 100% for their preorder? I'm seeing preorder options popping up at LHS's all over now.
Manager at LHS ~7 Years. I've seen some stuff lol
I certainly need a large desert truck to pair with my X-Maxx! I'm trying to decided between the UDR or the new 1/6 Losi desert truck. I guess I could buy both! Decisions, decisions!

well, just joined the club, pre-ordered the fox body AMain
Was set on a Slash Ultimate 4x4 until I saw this. Wondering what y'all think? I know its not an apples to apples comparison as the slash is 1/10 scale and the UDR is huge in comparison.
How do you think the UDR would handle a typical clay track (where mostly 1/8 brushless buggies run) compared to the Slash Ultimate?
Looking for something to go bashing, hit the hiking trails, and occasional track day. No competitive racing. UDR just looks so cool!
It looks amazing, I just wonder, in real world use, what it will offer that a Slash cannot. That will be the deciding factor for me, since it's so much more expensive. The new revo also looks tempting, and seems priced well.

Allow me to answer your question, gents. These desert trucks are built for speed while blazing across rough terrain. Simply watch a Baja 1000 video on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. A different style of bashing. Your Slash simply won't keep up because of the wheel travel, regardless of horsepower. That simple. After making a couple scratch built long travel buggies that are roughly 1/8 scale, my Slash just sits. Haven't driven it for who knows how long. I dig the desert environment, could care a less about a sc track. That is the ideal use of this truck.
Scale and looks don't matter to me.

I'm still considering ordering, but the battery compartment is really small limiting my battery options
I care what it can do. I'm eagerly waiting to see how it performs!

i got 4 of the 6700 traxxas 4s batteries, so I'm guessing i'll be doing a lot of running on 4s.
we have a uphill track where we run xmaxxes. we get pretty crazy there, the hill climb is a good 300 foot up, and the ground is uneven and leads to lots of skipping rc's and fast speed, will be nice to see how the UDR performs at the same location.

Love it. Finally a traxxas truck that puts the power to the ground instead of doing wheelies or backflips.

Just placed my pre-order at my LHS for the fox version. Planning on running it with my xmaxx 4s smc's. Cant wait to get my hands on it..
Do I need one? No.
I’ve already got two slashes.
Do I want one? Oh yeah! It’s absolutely stunning!

I would like to get one.. but i love my sl4sh haha
I'd love a UDR. But it's out of my budget. I don't think it would make a good first RC car anyway. If I did buy one, I probably wouldn't want to use it. It looks too nice to risk crashing, haha!
I very much look forward to upcoming un-boxing/reviews on Youtube!
I have a fully tricked out E-Maxx and monster Slash 4x4. I really didn't see myself buying the Desert Racer just because I already have two trucks I customized for off-road bashing. Then I saw the RC Car Action video of the Desert Racer speeding across a field at full speed, the body barely moving as the suspension soaked up the bumps. As good as they are, there is no way my Slash or E-Maxx could do that without flipping or losing control at some point. The Desert Racer is a whole new breed of off-road truck. That cinched it for me. I put in my order for a Rigid Desert Racer.![]()
Emaxx, do you happen know which hobby store has the largest selection in the Dallas area? Thanks in advance.
