I agree on the front bumper lights, its a pain having to pull the body out to slide over the lights.
One really cool thing with the lights is you see how well the suspension soaks up bumps. The first time i did a full throttle run with a Proline lightbar in the windshield you barely see the light move compared to how much the suspension is working.
Did some "speed" runs on 4S. 34 MPH seems faster in person than it does on YouTube.![]()

Screw driver and Bic Butane... the tools of champions!
fourdub its good to see you posting again!!
Unfortunately the Rigid UDR is done, toast, kaput! Front center driveshaft broke again... thats the 3rd one. Luckily I have an aluminum shaft handy. It showed up the day after I installed my last plastic one *** lol.
The plan is to completely tear it down, redo the diffs, rebuild the shocks, replace broken parts, and so on and blah blah blah. I need a long list of parts but luckily I bought a Fox UDR and itll be here next week to quench my rc needs. I wish the XMAXX wasnt broken too. I may get a second one of those too for this exact reason lol.
The worst part is that I just found this awesome spot to run the truck. Its a construction site and the water run off created a fantastic silt bed that is the PERFECT scale setting for the UDR. I should have taken pictures.
I'm the reason why we can't have nice things!
Cleaned the planetary gears, on #2, then replaced the
wore out rear axle input shaft bearing 5180A 6x13x5mm
Found a loose bolt on lower arm/bearing carrier

Built this today for the trucks. Ill have both UDRs and the xmaxx off the table while working on other things. Since my 2nd UDR (Fox body) will be here in a few days I ordered a few upgrades for it that I have on the Rigid that I really enjoy. Also ordered steel sway bar links and turnbuckles for both. Had to order new tires for the Rigid because 4/6 of the stock tires had gone bald to the point of tearing themselves apart.
Looking forward in the next week or so when parts get here to really tear them apart and completely rebuild them.

2nd UDR came yesterday. its a Fox body. took it for a test drive on 4s. its practically brand new and runs like a banshee. drove it for about 5 minutes and then tore it completely apart. put 60wt/80wt in the f/r respectively so Ill see how that goes. Added aluminum brake discs and rear hub retainers. also added an aluminum front center drive shaft and steel sway bar links. Waiting on a few parts for the Rigid before I rebuild it with new shocks, axles, motor, a-arms, links... basically itll be a new truck.

Changed the rear shock oil from 30wt to 40wt, but didn't notice much difference. Will try 50. Can anyone confirm that the UDR comes with 30wt stock?

I see that now. Guess I need to learn to read. Thanks Techo Duck! The manual says its 30wt front and 60wt rear.
30wt rear shock oil had the rear end jumpin / bouncin along
60wt is much better

Cleaned and regreased the front and center differentials. Also cleaned up the cut lines around the light kit I installed last week.

Rebuilt my Fox body. Aluminum driveshaft and steel sway bar links. 60/80wt in the shocks.
In the process of rebuilding the Rigid body with 34/47 pinion/spur, steel driveshaft and 50/70wt in the shocks. Replaced the rear axle housing and regreased. front upper and lower a-arms replaced.

Yesterday, I received the new aluminum rotors (wheel hubs) and was back on the road. Today: I got the Bluetooth piece installed in the transmitter - and updated the transmitter, esc and power amplifier (light kit).

I got a few things installed this week. The Traxxas light kit I decided to use Flexible braided cable on all the wires to help protect them. The kit went in great. Looks amazing.
I went with the DHawk Aluminum Arms and C-Hubs as I have them on my Yeti XL and haven't bent them or had any issues. They fit perfect. There is a small aluminum spacer in the kit and I assumed were it went, lower arm. I noticed the lower shocks do not use the drive stock pin, but M3 bolts. They provided Gold M3 bolts which I assume are aluminum, I did not use them. I prefer a steel M3 bolt. Also blue Lock Tight on every bolt. Everything is super smooth. No binding or any issues. Will test it this weekend.

Finally got to take the UDR out and shoot my new Ruger pc9. I’m not sure which one is more fun

Oh yeah, I also put on some hot racing limiting straps. Wasn’t sure how they would hold up but so far so good

Installed the GPM Steering rack. I am looking to improve the steering feel. I noticed the new servo I put in would activate the servo saver while on the bench turning left top right. You can adjust the spring now for a tighter feel. I also installed the Hot Racing clamping servo arm. HR uses o-rings on the pillow balls to help keep the dirt out. Nice idea. Everything went in no problems.

They certainly look good, but alas, no adjustability. Disappointing.I went with the DHawk Aluminum Arms ...
Took my UDR to the track with me saturday.....our track is 1/8 scale.....so I pulled it off after 1 laps......tires have no grip.....It's fun....just not in a track yet....lol....nothing broke....bent a screw on the front bumper.....other it drove away!
They are pretty close to stock. I tried to measure, they might be a mm shorter then stock.

Where is everyone breaking their driveshafts at? This is my second UDR and Iv never broke one. Now that I said that I’m sure it will break next.

Installed Dhawk trailing arms, GPM brake pads and Hot Racing rotors.
Raced around the yard with me cousin who had an X-MAXX....tore up my uncle's yard a little bit.....X-MAXX is crazy on 8s.....but it was fun.....now my cousin wants a UDR too.....lol.....way too much fun.....
I decided 6s might..... be a tad much for myself and my 9 year old. So after talking to SMC, I went with there 4s 10500mah pack. I did have to remove the battery retainer TRA8525 but found the pad from my Slash 4x4 fit perfect in its place. I might modify the original bracket as it needs to be shorter to allow the pack to drop in.

It's hard to tell in that picture, but did you try to cut down the original plastic part at the end of the battery tray? I ran into the same problem when putting my 6s in the UDR and after a while realized there is a replacement part in the bag with the manual that allows you to run a single battery that is longer, then you can remove the other plastic part to make the tray bigger.
