Is anyone running 3s 5400mha 90c smc batteries in a stock 8s x maxx with the optional spur gear? If so what kind of run times you getting?
Ok how about this can anyone answer this question should I step up to 8s lipos or is 6s more controllable?
8 cell all day long.
Ok that's one vote for 8s
Ca 15 min WOT run time with 2x5800mah 4 cells lipo.
Normal bashing maybe 20 min
Its going to vary greatly with any battery depending on long you keep the truck at WOT. With my 6S setup, I only get 10-12 min if I drive it around a big area with the throttle fully engaged for periods of time. Theres a spot I go that has a few jumps but isnt big enough to hit top speed and I can easily get 35-40 min out of it.

Rustler VXL
Wow ok then I defiantly going to go with 7400mah batteries at least just have to figure out if I wanna stay 6s or go 8s.
My 8s i get 20-25 min of mostly wot. When i take it easy and am more technical I get 45 min to an hour. The last 5 min is usually at 50% power.
What mah are your batteries mazzy?
I'm using 6700mah.
My 8s X-Maxx runs for 30 to over 60 minutes with mixed throttle, playing, slow and fast running. I don't see how you could run this truck wide open the whole time! LOL. I use:
- 2 old SMC 6700 4s batts
- 2 new HobbyPower 7200 hard case batts.
- 2 new Protek 6700 HV lipos. (6200 at normal 14.8 volt charge)
After updating ESC firmware right after a couple runs (due to the random brake clipping issue) truck runs stupid strong and great run times.
Was leaning towards these https://www.smc-racing.net/index.php...product_id=491.
Those ought to be GREAT
When you say to flip the battery hold downs what exactly do you mean gripdog.
That's what I thought you was talking about but wasn't a hundred percent sure.
8s all the way! I've got the Traxxas 6700mah and get about 20-25 min time.
