Slash 4x4 vxl or Rustler 4x4 vxl

I am really in a predicament.

I can't decide if I should get the new.
Rustler 4x4 vxl or the Slash 4x4 vxl .

They are the same price and whatever one I end up with is going to be used for bashing. What is everybody's thought about it.

Rustler 4x4 vxl or the Slash 4x4 vxl..........

I have a Slash 4x4 vxl Ultimate and I am planning to adopt the Rustler chassis and a-arms to my slash.

    Why?

Because I like the wider stance (more suitable for my buggy conversion) and if nobody noticed, the rustler 4x4 vxl has a different receiver box and there is more space between the ESC and the motor which might be useful if someone wants to add a 1/8 scale motor later on.

Like Castle Creations 1515-2200kv motor for example.

I am still thinking and would appreciate everybody's views on this.

Attached below is a side by side comparison of the slash 4x4 vs rustler 4x4 chassis.

Hope this comment helps you some how @DeadlyPsycho

I’d get a rustler. More nimble, jumps/flies better, locking body tabs.

For speed runs I assume the Slash will be more stable and have more choices in aero bodies.

Why would the rustler jump and fly better? They very closely resemble each other.
Of course there is the slightly smaller wheel base and the smaller bumpers.

Id go with the Rustler 4x4 for bashing only.
The basics are that it is around 1" shorter (allows rotation easier for doing flips etc)
Also runs the bigger wheels and tires which will cushion the abuse better.

Other than that it is a Slash 4x4. Could always put big wheels/tires on a Slash and have nearly the same thing but retain SCT dimensions for multiple uses.

Of course get the Rustler. It looks pretty mean and powerful. After you upgrade the motor and all. It will be a beast. Not saying it isn't already.... Just sayin!

The Rustler 4x4 VXL looks like it will be an agressive little machine!
If I didn't already have 2 Slash 4x4's I would get one... still want one!

If you are one that enjoys modding, there are a ton of manufacturers with a ton of parts for the Slash 4x4. The Rustler 4x4 VXL is new and does not have aftermarket support yet...

Or you could wait and see if a Bandit 4x4 comes out. I really hope it does.

I have a Slash and nitro Revo. Slash didn't move well in the lawn compared to the Revo but is now a little better with 2.8 tires/rims. I've wanted a Slash 4x4 but now the Rustler is announced I deleted the Slash from my wish lists. I will have to work more on convincing the wife I want a Rustler and try to figure out the money portion as we plan on getting a new driveway next year.

    wouldn't a Bandit 4x4 essentially be the rustler 4x4?

at least the original rustler and bandit were darn near identical.
we can rebuild it, we can make it faster, stronger

You can always relocate the receiver box on the LCG chassis. Many people do that.

    Just shooting out options...

I have the rally with gtr shocks and center diff. I really don't use so I'm might just buy the rustler 4x4 chassis and arms it should be around 100 dollars with body.

Having converted my slash into a 4x4 rustler thing like most people end up doing. Id just get the rustler. Unless you like short course trucks. Having an rc with a big body can be fun but it holds the performance back.

Good day.... I have been SC racing my Rustler for a couple months now. The Slashes appear to be much better for racing than the Rusty's. I can also say that from my research most folks will say for racing the Rusty's cannot keep up with the Slashes.

In my case I am investigating options for next years SC dirt racing. Being a nonconformist I would luv to show up at the track in May with a 4x4 Rusty and to be competitive with the Slashes. Today I haven't come across any real world track tests comparing the 4x4 Rusty with the Slashes but really interested in how they would perform one on one.
