List your UDR upgrades, likes/dislikes and what you think it needs

    Ridged UDR
    Mods and Upgrades
    - Shock oil to 60w
    - Rebound shock to 40w
    - Front sway bar removed
    - cut tread in V groove on tires, holes punched in sides
    - Tried kyosho 17mm basher bead lock wheels but they strip easy
    - Chinese Aluminum wheel hexes
    - MFR Aluminum upper control arms
    - Savox 1230 servo
    - Hot Racing fix mount horn/arm
    - Arrow RC 3s batteries x2
    - Futaba 4pls radio + rx. (removes the gyro option)

    Likes:
fun running truck, absorbs bumps like a true desert racer.
Jumps great and with modded shock oil it responds well.
realistic. The way the body has holes cut out for bumper is really ingenious!

    Dislikes:
Body is flimsy, very thin, and costs a lot to replace
Sway bars dont work too flimsy, track roll is bad
Tires do not work for dirt driving. on track its all over the place, bashing its a lot of spinning tires.
Unlike a short course truck, when on its side you can't turn and accelerate to pop it back on its wheels..

What traxxas needs to improve on
    Wheels Bead locks
Tires: more compounds and different tread design
Sway Bar: Different diameter for amount of anti sway
Easier way to access front drive shaft
Different design for the rear diff.. it gets really hot!
Different designed rear Drive Shaft.. I ve broken 3 so far on just normal driving.
Maybe a 2 or 3 piece designed body so you can replace only the sections that break
Different body hole locations to prevent the body for popping though bolts.

    Comparatively I haven't done much,
    Everything I have replaced
-Stock servo with metal geared water proof savox unit
-trailing arms with beefier aluminum arms
-those long thin links with thick stainless steel pieces
    Everything I have added
    -Traxxas udr light kit
-painted side panels to run without body
-mounted a diecast model engine in the front (for pure aesthetic reasons
-painted the BFGoodrich name on the tires with white flex seal

I haven't had any chance the run my UDR with my latest mods, the engine and painted tires, due to the extreme cold here in South Dakota so I can't vouch for the longevity of my aesthetic modifications. However I can say that I genuinely enjoy the UDR as a fun basher, being able to hang it sideways in turns, donuts in the dirt, and scale jumping is a blast! Unlike jeepgeek I have never had any problems with my rear driveshaft breaking or my body breaking/popping through bolts, although I really don't run my UDR all that hard anyway I only get the chance to drive it around maybe once a week in the summer and I don't want to spend too much time fixing it. All in all this a fun rc and is more durable than my Stampede, Slash, and 4 tec. (the only rc that I have ever owned that beats this on reliability, in my experience, is the Redcat Blackout). One of the things the UDR needs is solid trailing arms, once those stock hollow ones bend it all over thay need to be replaced. Also, I am not sure if Traxxas has fixed this or not, a servo that will longer than one or two battery packs.

jeepgeek2002, the rebound is without the spring correct. What springs do you reccomend for the regular shocks?
