    Rusty with big brother!

My lhs got in the 4x4, happened to have the 2.0 with me so some sibling rivalry seemed in order, ha.

I apologize for the sideways video, I was holding a Mexican hotdog, or a German taco, or a dachshund chihuahua, what ever. So videoed is my lhs manager, I drove it after. Battery is a 3s traxxas 4000mah (the traxxas 5000mah will not fit!) Straight outta the box folks.

    Run review:
The 4x4 rusty was actually really planted on hard turns. Is was difficult to traction roll, I did manage to roll it once. It rotates nicely, you can see in the pictures its longer than the old rusty but shorter than the slash 4x4. We got maybe 10min of concrete run time outta the 4000mah 3s traxxas battery, it was in storage charge so expect runtime to increase with a freshly charger battery. I brought my temp gun, but the battery was dead! I will tell you this though, the motor was close to over heating while the esc was around 140. I asked what it was geared, to which 11/54 was responded. It seemed under geared to me, but with how hot things got I'm not sure how much higher you could go, though I expect temps would be lower on dirt without the constant acceleration and breaking. As soon as I got the controls, the "el sob special" popped into my head! This truck will be an animal on 3s, geared up, with that system. I'm trying to talk my way into a bash session with it. You can see and hear on the video how hard the chassis slaps on the speed bump, also, like true traxxas lcg chassis setups, it wants to buck the back end. Gtr shocks would be a great upgrade, or at least some heavier shock oil. Its super springy.

Can you show a pic of the slash 4x4 Axles alone next to the rustlers?

The stock plastic axles? It turns out the arms are the same as a slash 4x4. Same part number but followed by the letter R. I would imagine the axles are the same

So, is this basically an lcg stampede 4x4 with slash arms? Would an lcg slash basically be the same thing with a longer chassis?

Trying to decide whether it'll be worth it to make having one of these a goal, or just keep a buggy converted slash on hand.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I donít see it as a good addition if you have a slash 4x4 or P4de.

The arms , drive shafts, and shock towers are all new designs not used on any previous car. Check the parts explosion to see for yourself. Thanks for posting the review.

have you looked into exactly what the shock lengths are so you could replace the shocks?

I don't necessarily agree with that - I have a LCG Slash 4x4 that sits about 8-10mm off the ground, and my Stampede 4x4 (converted before this announcement to a Rustler 4x4) has much better ground clearance. They are 2 different driving trucks for different surfaces.

i believe the plastic is a new blend for colder temps.

The arms use a new material and they are a new design.

I wish it was for hotter temps *ahem Texas*. I would switch to these axles in a heartbeat if the stand up to abuse better than stock and are still cheap.
    Guess who's back.

Looks to me like basically the same shock tower except redesigned with the new body mount system. Wouldn't be surprised if it fits exactly the same, and I really hope it does because if i end up building this Imma want it to fit easily on a Slash LCG chassis.

I have a Rustler VXL and an E-Revo 2.0. I have a blast with the E-Revo 2.0 but not so much with the Rustler. I let my friends drive it when they think they want to get into RCs. I also have a Slash 4x4 Platinum. Do you think it is worth buying a Rustler 4x4 given I have all three of these vehicles?

Iíd say no. I also have a Rustler, 2wd was very limiting to me and my terrian. I got the P4De and built an X-Maxx. The Rustler is now just a capable speed car.
