    Batteries for rustler 4x4

What batteries fit the tray? Traxxas .com battery finder is not accurate.

Good point there are some new Traxxas batteries that recently came out.

I am not sure what the Traxxas numbers are but I know there is a new shorter 3s 25C 5000 that fits in the rustler 4x4s.

I originally thought I was golden on batteries since I have a ton of 3s 25C 5000 batteries for the X-maxx, E-revo's, slash's and UDRs, which those will not fit in the Rustler 4x4 they are too long.

When I bought my 4x4 Rustler last week, that battery compartment looked to small for the 3s 5000s that I had at home so we did some test fitting in the store, and I bought a 2s and 3S that we had test fit to make sure they would work. The new 3S 5000 25C is clearly shorter then the ones I had at home.

Here is some info found about the new shorter 5000 3S

    TRA2832X
    Specifications:
    Type: LiPo
    Total Capacity: 5000mAh
    Voltage: 11.1V
    C Rating: 25
    Length: 135mm
    Height: 28.5mm
    Width: 44mm
    Weight: 12.5oz

This link shows the batteries we advertise to work in Rustler 4x4 VXL. I do not see any inaccuracies in the list.

I know for me the confusion came from here scroll to the bottom.
    https://traxxas.com/products/landing/rustler-4x4-vxl/

I think you will see where it is simply showing the performance data for different gearing and battery's and for me with where it showed performance data with a 5000C 3S battery, I made the wrong assumption at that time we still just had the one version with that spec. Which up until recently there was only one Traxxas battery with that spec.
Which there is no mention of part numbers in that chart, so me not having memorized all that battery part numbers made the wrong assumption it was refering to the 3s 5000C battery's I already owned. This is a new enough concern none of the hobby store employees working that night I purchased mine had seen this come up before, and luckily they had the new shorter versions in stock.

I am no expert by any means on Traxxas batteries, but I don't know of any two other batteries in the Traxxas battery selection, that has the exact same spec, other then dimensional changes. Most of the time I think the power and Mah ratings change with the physical shape. With this particular 5000 3s 25C only the dimensions seem to change. Which makes it either fit or not fit in the Rustler 4x4.

This fits perfectly in the Rustler 4x4 VXL sitting on my desk. Not sure where you ran into issues.

I agree the 2s 2842X fits, I had one in my Rustler 4x4 last night.

3s 5000S 2872X is different story. The 2832X 3S 5000 is the new short version needed for the Rustler 4x4.

I’m super bummed! I picked up my Rusty 4x4, and bought the charger/battery combo with the 11.1 5000mah packs. But I got home and opened it up and realized they are the longer packs, the 2872x!!!! The dude at the shop didn’t realize there are differences in length. Of course, picking it up the end of the day means they are closed, and they are closed Sunday too. Good thing I grabbed a 2s for my son’s regular Rusty and will be able to at least take 2s laps with my new rig today, before swapping out for the proper batteries on Monday.
