    Nitro Vee rebuild for Fun

Thinking of converting one of my Nitro Vees. I was curious if the velineon 380 would work ok on 2s. Would like to use the 1/16 scale batteries(2 in parallel). Not looking for speed performance, just something reliable to fool around with. Grandkids bought father in-law a Blast and thought I would convert one so they could run the boats with him. If not I would use the 3500 but worry about the batteries, trying to keep it as light as possible.

That motor is way too small for the size of the boat and the amount of drag. Best to go with something bigger.

Does anyone know what the TRX pro .15 turned for rpm in the Vee? I'm thinking between 25,000 to 30,000 tops. Trying to find a brushless motor with similar performance running 2s. Would the velineon 3500 be too much power?

Searching the web, not much info out there. Others have done it but not much talk on how it's holding up.

Did you ever get on with this project? You know all of Traxxas Forums wants to see you put a brand new pro .15 marine in that puppy and post a video. Traxxas still sells the Marine engine new!
At least post a video of her running!

Nope, never converted. Glad I didn't. Another Blast was cheaper. I ended up having another surgery so things got put on hold. But I have been collecting parts to get both of them running again. Always wanted a Nitro Vee when they first came out, now I have two! Add some elbow grease and they should be good.

This is my plan: Repaint the Hulls with Klass Kote. This should protect them and strengthen the plastic. Then one Nitro Vee is going to get The Pro. 15. I still have the hatch for this one, so it would be a "restore to factory." The second one is going to be getting the "upgrades." Either the 2.5 (still looking for the marine head) or it's getting the 3.3 w/custom head. I've found most of the Traxxas parts. Once I get the hulls painted, it should go together fairly quick. (I purchased an Iwata Airbrush just for this restore,I never even used one. LOL)

    It'll get done, just slower.
