Swapping chassis, what other internal upgrades should I be doing?

So two weeks ago my friend and I both bought slash 4x4 ultimates. While he's into racing, I love big jumps and bashing. I quickly started swapping RPM parts and having a blast with it.

Yesterday, I was repeatedly hitting a 6ft rock ramp with absolutely no problems, just bashing it. I had one 3s battery left so I went to the local high school parking lot to do some high speed runs. Very first run I stretched it out too much, couldn't stop it, and went full bore into a fire hydrant. Cracked the chassis in half and bent the drive shaft. So I have the entire chassis disassembled right now.

In my quest for the ultimate sct basher, what other interior parts should u be replacing while I have everything torn apart?

    Thanks in advance!

Depending on how much you want to spend...

    - replace the axles with CVDs (MIPs, Traxxas etc)
    - aluminum motor mount
    - clutch upgrade

These are things I’ve personally found to be good reliability upgrades. Whether for bashing or parking lot speed runs.

Thanks, I had just ordered MIPs. I'll look into the motor mount and clutch.

    No worries.

The MIPs are rock solid. Motor mount wise, I’ve got the King Headz in one Slash and the Traxxas version in the other 2. All have been reliable with no issues. There are a few clutch options, but I’ve had zero problems with the e-revo upgrade, and that’s running on grass, sand or street with 3s and 4s.

    Have fun!

Hot Racing also makes a good mount.

As for slipper upgrades, I run a Robinson Racing Gen 3 slipper setup and love it. It's a little pricey but never had an issue and never stripped a gear running 4s and the occasional 6s.

I did also order the HR mount plate. Still looking at the clutch.

Rear shock tower and rear shocks on the front. Makes the truck handle like a dream and that extra bit of travel could be useful when throwing down some 40' jumps.

All great recommendations...and maybe add some XO-1 diffs...
