Hey yall. Its getting dead in here again. Any topics just to warm things up?
I just purchased a used pair of H R Diff housing and an aluminum diff cup for a nice deal.
Once things slow down I plan to install them along with my LEM aluminum V4 axles that are still collecting dust on my shelf. I really think all this stuff is just over kill, but aint it fun.
By the way, what ever happened to "Overkill summit" last I heard it got an article in a major RC magazine.
I think I read that LEM (seller of Summit specific upgrades) is out of business. I hope its not true, I still had plans of buying on of their aluminum transmission gears.

It does not seem like lem is in buisiness anymore. Really sucks. Hope all is well with them. I have been working on a lt conversion on one of my summits. Other one is bone stock. I really hate i had to sell my first summit. I had quite a long list of upgrades done to it including all lem drivetrain and kershaw chassis. It was awesome. I will try to post some pics of my lt conversion when done though. Waiting on some tires that ended up being on backorder.
If it still moves, it aint broke enough!
How "pricey" are those aluminum housings? That would save me a ton of fab grief if they are reasonably priced, I could weld mounting tabs to them.

This has some Summit parts; diffs front and back, and trimmed Summit cvd axles out back. What a pain making bulkheads to mount the diffs, running locked all the time for now. Potpourri of Traxxas models to build it, lots of fun to drive. I am considering pilfering my Summit for parts to do another rig, using my cage this time, not a Bomber. Those aluminum jewels would be right at home there.![]()
The aluminum diff housings are $40 each. ($80 for the set). Trust me, I would NOT have purchased them new.
Thats a nice rig you have therre, and some good flex. What chassis is it based on?

Chassis/suspension is me, with a chopped up Bomber cage mounted on top. Nice purchase on the housings.
I modified the drive line on one of my Summits that I had converted over to brushless. After a few successful runs I started stripping diff gears like crazy. Replaced the LEM diff cups with stock plastic ones and have been good to go, don't know why though. Overall, I love the Summit, it just does it all.
really nice work Macfab !!
tankifrank you said that LEM parts cause the diff stripping ?? really
I drive my BL summit like it's a full basher (but a fat one !!) and never break anything in the driveline except the wheel axles...
I broke lot of part in the suspension
here's my setup

Best way 2 set gear mesh, I've burned the spur right off, 4s maxx amps, (16/62) was burned out, going back 2 stock gearing MMX CC-2200KV

I could always set it prior 2 going BL

I’m not sure exactly what Crock is getting at. Correct gear mesh is correct gear mesh, no matter the amount of power going through the gears. If you hold the pinion and have just enough room to wiggle the spur a small amount all the way around its circumference then the mesh is good.
Slipper clutch adjustment is an entirely different matter though I typically TIGHTEN the slipper when going from brushed to brushless to avoid melting the spur gear from excessive slipping.

It sounds like you have a slipper problem, not a mesh problem.
Have you tried the T-Maxx brake disk mod in the slipper clutch?

I realize this is relative to the Slash 4x4 but the Slash is using a Revo (not Revo-type) slipper.

The Dude. I don't know what the deal was but on both LEM diff cups the hole that the diff gear shaft slides through was definitely a larger diameter than the shaft itself. I could definitely feel the wobble. To be honest I did run the heck out of the Summit without any shimming. I was bashing along for quit awhile until the first rear diff gears stripped. replaced them and then the front set went. Not till after I replaced the front did I notice the wobble. Then I tried the shimming but still had the wobble and stripped another set. Been back to plastic diff cups for about a month now and so far so good. Fixing to head to Moab this weekend and taking the BL Summit with me. I'll put her through the paces and see what happens.
A summit at Moab. That, I would not mind watching a video of.
Anyone seen the new Trx-4 " Traxx"?
Crazy ground clearance when combined with those portal axles.
I wounder how they would look on a summit?
Is just a hex adapter needed or is there something else neede to attach them

Why are the Summit forums so dead now? I disappear for a couple years and everyone stops posting.
Why can't other people share my opinions?
What??? TRax-4 gets Traxx, 6 wheels, mercedes shell, the erevo gets larger diffs and total remake, slash get lcg chassis and sound module,
And all we summit owners get . . . . . Is new colors?
Blasphemy, Summit, always the red headed step child.

Didn't the Summit recently get upgraded diffs or tranny or something?
We all bought trx 4s because at least there are aftermarket parts available to make it do what you want it to do.
Ah Traxxas why have you forgotten your faithful Sons and Daughters.
Lol maybe a bit dramatic perhaps.lol
