Center Driveshaft slop. up and down. side to side.

Why does thew center driveshaft move alot some much. I am not saying that it moves back and forth. But it moves up and down and side to side. when I took off the spur and pinion gear cover i noticed that when I move the center diff the spur moves like 1/8 of and inch. Everything seems to be tightened down and in good condition. What can be causing this. I have a feeling i can be striping my spur non stop like this. Please help!

My first guess would be the slipper bearing spacer melted down. They make an aluminum one just for this reason. If that's what happened, check your slipper clutch too as that much heat would come from excessive clutch slippage. It may need to be tightened.

I'm not familiar with your car, but on others I've worked on the plastic drive shafts that attach with just a grub set screw. Inherently have some play in them.
