    Ultimate RC

Anyone remember Jang and Ultimate RC? Website appears to be down. Was always a good source for RC info. Anyone know if this is permanent or is the website really just being updated?

I believe Jang quit rc somewhere around 2013. The website is most likely down for good.

He's gone. Many other good rcers are gone as well - one comes to mind is Squirrel/TheToyzForum who had dozens of RC videos on YouTube.

Yup, Jang is out of RC for the foreseeable future. He still on YouTube, he is heavy into Lego builds (and other blocks) and set reviews. If you still want to follow what he does, his channel is called JangBricks.

His LHS moved so he was having problems places to run his rc's. There's always more to a story, but that what he said.

IMO, social media is killing off forums slowly! There has been a huge slow down in forum traffic, and not just for R/C. It's a shame, but change comes with time, like everything else.

Bringing new people into the hobby is its lifeblood, but it can also be a double-edged sword. Those of us who got started with the forums were the only game in town understand how useful they are. The new people coming in are used to FB and other styles of social media, and have taken their postings there. This isn't necessary a bad thing, FB is wonderful for organizing and getting information out for comps and get-togethers, something that most forums I have been on really suck at. But, for build threads and just general information (RC or platform specific), it is horrible. Trying to find a previous post that had great information in it is frustrating on FB, and most don't even try. Build threads are terrible on FB as well, they just get piled under all of the other posts. Plus, there is just no sense of community on FB.

I know our hobby has to change and adapt to survive, but it seems like some of the changes are doing a lot more harm than good.

Not to bash the new kids, but it also seems like the newer/younger people getting into RC (teens to 30-ish) also really don't have many ethical standards. On other forums there are a lot of posts about what knock-off RCs are better than other knock-offs. Just a few years back those kinds of posts would have been deleted with a warning to the OP, but today, forum admins are so desperate for traffic, they allow it (not here on the Traxxas forums, of course).

I guess I'm old school and dont keep up with the times. I dont Facebook or other social media sites either. I do like the forums much better personally. He123321 is right, either forums besides rc has beem hit hard. I belong to a local mountain bike forum and back in the day it was huge and with lots of followers and lots of posts every day. For the most part it has died off and a few posts a month. Maybe one day I'll change with the times better.

I guess I'm old school.... Facebook is great for freinds but I hate all the commercialism. But, that's just me, social media is forced down our throats just look at your cell phone apps,Windows 10 preloaded with social media software.

I'm glad the forums are still online. They are a fantastic resource.

Jang's videos are the reason I got into rc stuff to begin with. I've probably seen all of his vids at least once lol.

I still own and run a local Traxxas forum, it has been up for the past 12 years, but it's almost dead now. Our FB group replaced it a few years back, now, it's being replaced by a WA group. I'm also old school, FB and WA is not they way to go if you ask me. Jang was great, he had awesome videos and projects.
