    Question Shock shaft question

So I was working on my pede trying to replace the rod ends on my shocks and the pliers I was using slipped and scratched the shock shaft. I was using one of those rubber flap things that you use to open jars to put something in between the pliers and the shaft. I was using If you run your fingernail down the shaft, you can feel the scratch mark in the shaft. Should I get new shafts or should I continue to just use the ones I have?

Just for now, or should I change them out while they are apart?

It depends how chewed up they are. Theres a rubber piece at the bottom of the shock that the shaft slides thru. If the piece gets damaged itll leak. Ive had shocks that I bent and then scratched up the shaft while fixing them and used them for a while with no issues. If the scratching is minimal im sure you can go on using them like its not even there
