    Dirt Modified Stampede

There's no pictures on the Google so I assume nearly NOBODY has done one...?
I'd love to see yours if you have!!!

Just a few more things to work out but I'm getting pretty good at this now.
I basically just modified the Rustler kit again and made a few new parts too.

I picked up a ungraded Rustler off Kijiji. It was used for speed runs so light wear.
I stripped it for the main parts including RPM gearbox and PL bigbore shocks.
New chassis, bulkhead and a few others and it's ready to become a Stampede...

I still had the Kipps K1006 main body piece, which is the base for this build.

The sides will be a shrunk down version of the kit's. Same with the roof.
I'll use the original wing, just 'cause, and add a Fortunespoonz underbelly tray...

I think itís those funny looking dirt oval cars with giant overhead wings and vertical side panels that drifts all day around the track. Fun stuff

Iím surprised to hear it being built from a stampede though, I would have imagined a rustler chassis would have been an easy starting point.

LOL. It's funny you say that because it was originally a Rustler kit.
I already used most of the kit on a Slash LCG. It's basically a Rustler...

But I LOVE my Stampedes and I was determined to use the rest of the kit.
Also I like to fabricate stuff for the heck of it.
    Synnergy knows...

    Ya buddy. It's ALLLLL wing!

Here's the side panels, nose/hood piece and assembled chassis.

    Main body/wing and underbelly.

The painting is all done now and assembly has begun. New tires/rims ordered...
Back on work days, but will post another update soon. Cheers Stampede fans!

Above you can see where I ground out the space for the shocks and tower.
That hole could have been better... I had to make the wide alum. support seen below.
Also I had to make up the green piece to clip it down. Easy, peasy...
When I did the Slash I had a hard time getting to the body clip easily under the roof.
So this time I used the extended clip and a battery holder pin to clip into.

The hood extends all the way to the bumper and also is the front wing mount.
It attaches to the body. The goal was to make it all one piece removal and I succeeded.

To get the truck body as low as I wanted I moved the electronics out onto the belly pan.
I also ground out the battery tray, extending and moving it forward. I always do!

The body mounts to the battery hold downs at the front. I left air channels for the electronics.

Just need to attach the side panels and roof. Then cut/grind a bit when I get the tires probably...

It's mostly done now and I am totally in LOVE with it. Temporarily assembled and stickered.
Can't wait to get the tires on it and see the finished product. You will like it too!

Even if I didn't get my butt kicked by the flu, I still would have voted against the video.

But Little Dirty Daisy is done!! Named after my old 1:1 offroad feature winner!

I decided to go with the RPM bumper instead of the Slash one for more of a scale look.
This leaves the front shocks a bit exposed but we'll see how it goes.
I find the PL shocks too stiff in the front(no sag) but we'll see how it goes...
With Lexan costs down to about $3/sq', the cost of this body is around 10 bucks + paint.

Thanks. My favorite build yet. I'm going to make an oval track now, just for this bad girl!

Alas no. The flu has put me 2 weeks behind on everything in life.
I've barely had time to rip the Dirt Reaper around the technical track!
Also I have come to find that the small battery I had planned to use is pooched.
My regular 5000Mah batteries don't fit under the body without forcing it.
So its off to the LHS today and get a new slimmer battery for it.
