    PLEASE HELP! Slash lipo puffing?

Hi everyone, I bought a 20c 3s 4000mah lipo from Venom. I was using it in my slash 2wd with the castle sidewinder 3 setup, and after a few runs, I noticed puffing. What's the problem? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Its defective and potentially dangerous. Do not use it.

Try and get it replaced or your money back. Buy a better brand next time.

Your battery has a max amp supply of 80 amps. 4000mAh = 4 Ah. 20(c) x 4 = 80. Also, if it has the universal plug system best to ditch it for a genuine connector (FYI: any further reference to that system is not allowed due to infringement upon Traxxas's High Current Connector). For the price you paid for that battery you could have gotten a better one from SMC for about the same price or even less.

You'll have to look up what the max amp draw is from the Castle system (Castle may be able to provide that for you) and find a battery using the formula above that will be able to provide that with a cushion to spare.

To prevent overdischarging find a stronger battery and if you have the Castle Link system you can raise the LVC of the ESC.

I recall years ago that somebody once datalogged the original SCT 3800 motor’s peak amp draw on 2S at about 150A. I feed mine on a diet of 5600mAh 50C (100C burst) i.e. 280A continuous rating.

As “peaks” and “bursts” aren’t really defined, on my rigs I always keep the continuous battery’s amp feed capability at least equal to the motor’s peak amp draw.
